If you have a dog, you probably also have ideas about how you and your dog can or should relate. From companionship to protection, dogs can basically do it all, but not without some help. In fact, the biggest threat to the bond between you and your dog is their behavior – the one thing you may not know how to address on your own. At Ancillary K9, we believe you can have the relationship you want with the dog you love.

Smudgette, my great dane, and I worked with Tyler on obedience, on and off lead etiquette and some undesirable behaviors like over excitement and jumping. We are transformed! Tyler listens to the issues, solves the exact nature of the problems, and answered every conceivable question I had, which was a lot. He's patient, considerate and genuinely worked to ensure we were going have successful long term outcomes. I HIGHLY recommend Tyler and Ancillary K9

Clay arrived on time and was very pleasant to work with. He gave us gentle guidance on how to more effectively handle our german shepherd, Lida, and I could see her responding better that very same day! His advice felt very constructive and overall Clay was just very easy to work with. Highly recommend!

We had an incredible experience working with Jonathan at City Bark. We adopted a dog and shortly after, he bit our housemate badly. We were scared and nervous if this is something we could sufficiently deal with. Jonathan provided us with so many tools, ideas, and incredible insight. He is a very talented dog trainer with a balanced approach. He met us where we were at and built so much confidence in us and our dog in just 3 visits. We now feel confident on how to establish leadership, protect ourselves, and control our doggo. Jonathan made himself very accessible throughout our process and was just as excited to see our dog’s success as we were. We are so grateful for Jonathan and his expertise. We will be recommending him to everyone we know!

I have dealt with Sit means sit in the past and had great success with them. Â It is expensive and at first it is hard to get over the fact that you are giving your animal a slight "tick" to remind them to pay attention to you. Â After getting a boxer puppy a few months ago, I thought that I would be able to train him and get him under control without the help of a trainer....Boy was I wrong. Â After only 2 weeks of training with Sit Means Sit, the puppy is a completely different dog. Â The collar never bothers him and he responds better that I could have ever hoped. Â He doesn't have accidents anymore, he walks without pulling and is moving on to bigger and better commands. Â I am simply amazed at how much difference a good trainer can make and Sit Means Sit definitely provides just that. Â By far the best decision I have made in regards to raising a happy well behaved boxer and excited to continue the training and see just how smart this puppy is.

Kirk is one of the few trainers I have met who truly understand dog pack behavior instead of just trying to force an animal to do something. The work he did with my husky in a short period of time has resulted in a 90% transformation. Of course, now the rest is up to me to keep up on the lessons learned. Luckily for us, he took his time explaining everything to us so that it actually made sense and is applicable to our lives. Cannot recommend it enough!

Our methods focus on creating a positive relationship between you and your dog to improve your dog's behavior and obedience. Our expertise is in understanding how a dog naturally thinks, learns and communicates and then using this to show you how to be your dog’s leader. John was excellent! We have three dogs and all have different needs, he was very good with getting the specific needs we needed for each dog while ensuring it was something we could do together. It was very easy to work with John and he truly wanted to get to know us to help us lead our dogs. Highly recommended!!

We offer public classes and private instruction for all breeds, all ages and all issues. We have Puppy Building Block Courses, Basic Obedience & Behavior Courses, Advanced Canine Good Citizen Courses and Reactive Dog (Anger Management) Classes. We have Private Instruction Sessions for singular issues and for those who cannot attend a class or have a dog that isn't suited for a public class environment.
I was very successful in various levels of dog obedience competition, show and field for 22 years, but I found much greater satisfaction using those skills to help people with their own dogs. Knowing that we are improving the lives of dogs and their people has been the most rewarding aspect of what we do.
This is a family business that was started here in Colorado in 1958, but had it roots in Chicago in the mid 1940's.
Experience and knowledge! No training organization in Colorado has been training dogs as long as we have and no independent training organization in Colorado has trained as many dogs as we have. We have a huge tool box that we can use to help dog owners to help their dogs become the best dogs that they can be. Our practice isn't built on one theory or principle. While positive reinforcement should always be the primary motivator in training and behavior modification, some dogs need more structure than "positive reinforcement only" doctrine will allow. We help everyone achieve the right balance for themselves and each individual dog without building treat dependency or painful correction methods.
