I interviewed no less than 6 photographers for our engagement and wedding photos. Our wedding planner recommended a few she had worked with and trusted but I found their prices outrageous and style dull. I should also mention that I've been a bridesmaid 11 times so to say I was a very picky bride was the understatement of the year. A friend recommended Julie and I was blown away by her talent and her pricing was extremely fair. The photos are more than just captured moments. They are true art, exactly what I was looking for. She understood my style immediately and was so pleasant to work with. At our very first meeting on our first she had my fiancé and me laughing and feeling instantly at ease. Our engagement shoot was fun and the photos were just amazing. She was able to capture real moments of laughter and assisted us with positioning but never forced a cheesy pose. She even suggested some lovely spots in the city I would have never thought of. When I wanted to put our photos on a canvas print out I had received as a gift, Julie even resized the photos so that they would print up perfectly. The day of the wedding Julie was still as warm as ever but all business too. I had a super high strung wedding planner (whom I adore for keeping us on time but also made me nervous be she made me feel like we were holding things up) and Julie and her assistant handled it all with grace. Julie knew how important dramatic lighting was to me so she made a point to pull us aside to get the shots she knew I would love even though there were a lot of opinions flying about. One of those shots seriously looks like a magazine photo. She even got our stubborn flower girl to look at the camera once or twice! So many friends and family commented on how gorgeous the shots are. They are unique and unlike any other photos you see in your Facebook feed. My florist and caterer remarked on the amazing photos and use them to showcase their own work to this day, which should tell you something about Julie’s talent. We got the proofs back faster than I've ever seen (1 month and she had put together a slideshow and posted them on her website in a private album) and the actual files in less than 2 months. We have since hired her for our puppy “newborn” and later for our human baby newborn shots. She is INCREDIBLE with dogs. They look like print ads. Also, my colicky 10 day old was pretty awful at the newborn shoot and she’s enough of a perfectionist that she insisted on doing it again at 3 months (we still got great original shots through the screaming though) just because that she thought I’d like them better. Julie is an artist through and through, that she happens to be a funny, warm and lovely person to work with is just icing on the cake
