LA bookkeeper FAQs

What is the difference between a bookkeeper and an accountant?

A bookkeeper is responsible for recording daily financial transactions, while an accountant provides higher-level financial analysis, tax planning, and business advice. Many professionals offer both services.

The typical responsibilities of a bookkeeper include: data entry, bank reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing and maintaining the general ledger.

In comparison, an accountant’s role will likely cover: financial statement preparation, financial analysis, tax planning and preparation, auditing, budgeting, forecasting and general business advisory around finances.

For small businesses, you may only need one bookkeeper or accountant to cover off all of these responsibilities, however if your business is complex or larger you may need to consider hiring both.

When should I hire a bookkeeper?

It's time to hire a bookkeeper when:

  • You are spending more than a few hours each month on bookkeeping tasks yourself.
  • Your financial records are falling behind or becoming disorganized.
  • You are not confident in the accuracy of your financial reports.
  • You are preparing to apply for a loan or seek investment.
  • Your business is growing, and the number of transactions is becoming overwhelming.
  • You need to focus your time on growing the business rather than on administrative tasks.

How much does it cost to hire a bookkeeper in Los Angeles?

According to Bark data, the average price of a bookkeeper per hour in LA is $55, however this figure will differ depending on the scope of work, transaction volume, and the bookkeeper's experience.

Bark data also shows that in Los Angeles, the majority of businesses spend between $200 and $425 monthly on bookkeeping services.

What do you love most about your job?

I have always loved numbers because they never lie. I love finding new way to save my clients money through the knowledge I've obtained over the last 12 years. I love keeping my clients organized and happy so they can focus on their business instead of the books.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I had worked my way up from secretary to CFO of a construction businesses. That particular company took a lot of risks and I learned a lot of knowledge that many other people don't have access to. I opened up my business to share this knowledge and help people save a lot of money.

Why should our clients choose you?

Because I'm simply the best! I pour my heart and soul into each transaction recorded and I am flexible in my pricing.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes. Here are the steps we would take.

1) Meet over zoom for an initial kick off call.
2) I provide clients with a non disclosure agreement so their financial information remains safe and confidential.
3) I ask my clients to ask their bank to provide me with limited access viewing to the accounts.
4) If my clients don't have quickbooks online already, we can talk about different options on how we want to communicate the reporting.

Options include the following:
a) Client buys a $35.00 monthly subscription to quickbooks online so that way we both have viewing access
b) I have my own Desktop version if client can't afford the monthly payments and would submit reporting on a daily basis.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

For the most part with the exception of in person meetings from time to time, my clients and I have a remote working relationship. Instead of in person meetings, we can meet on Zoom/Google Meets/any other webcam platform at any time to keep customers safe from Covid 19.
