What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
A great photograph requires acute awareness of light, and an instinctive grasp of composition, since the moment can be fleeting! A click at just the right split second brings life, individuality and uniqueness to a photograph. Whether portrait, family group, still life or architectural, I aim to go beyond the formal to bring out the exceptional in the subject.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
For a portrait or headshot: What aspects of your character would you like to project? Competence and authority at work? Approachability? Compassion? Humor? Joy? Thoughtfulness? Where do you prefer to be on the formal/informal scale?
For property: what kind of buyer are you looking to appeal to? Do they want a family home? An upmarket business location? A good quality space for manufacturing?
What do you love most about your job?
Variety and freedom. Working with different people, bringing out the best in my photo subjects, and the opportunity to be creative.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Although I can and do work easily with teams, as an artist I enjoy being my own boss.
