We had Matt and his band perform live music for the cocktail hour and dinner portion of our wedding, and we are happy to recommend them to anyone looking for the same! They were easy to work with, timely, and great at striking the right mood without overshadowing whatever was going on in the event. They can do instrumentals and vocals, but we personally picked — and enjoyed them — for their ability to play a lot more classic tunes. While I'm sure they are more than capable, we didn't want a band to play wedding covers of top-40 hits for 2.5 hours; we wanted something more measured and classic, and they were able to deliver. ​What I love most about my job is the opportunity to share the joy and energy of live jazz with diverse audiences. Whether it's setting the perfect ambiance at a wedding, energizing a corporate event, or bringing New Orleans flair to a festival, each performance is a unique experience. Seeing guests connect with the music and create lasting memories is incredibly rewarding. Additionally, collaborating with talented musicians and tailoring our performances to each event's unique atmosphere keeps the work both challenging and fulfilling.
What inspired you to start your own business?
My passion for jazz and the joy it brings to people inspired me to start my own business. After performing in various jazz clubs and venues across the U.S. and Europe, including appearances with Rock and no Roll Hall of Fame groups like The Impressions and a performance at the White House, I wanted to share this vibrant music with a broader audience. Establishing Matt Hill & Friends allows me to bring the timeless charm of jazz to events throughout Pittsburgh, Eastern Ohio, and the Ohio Valley, creating memorable experiences for our clients.
