About

I've really done a wide gamut of photography from Headshots to Real Estate, Graduation Ceremonies to Weddings, to Product shots to Family Portraits. Plenty of Sports events and my special focus on Drone photography and videography. I also do marketing videos for companies, looking to showcase their brand, product or business in general.

Tom was amazing!! He’s got the equipment, is easy to work, enjoys what he does and was generally fun to work with, always looking out with constant tips to make everything work out to its best.

He helped me capture the moment I proposed to my then-girlfriend, now fiancé. I needed a quick turnaround (less than a week) for someone with a drone that could come out to Pacifica and help me capture the proposal while we hiked. This guy went above & beyond - he scoped out the hike, recommended 2-3 good spots where it would come out well and then got himself set up a little before we arrived - AMAZING! He provided us with multiple cuts of the entire video, with some background music and editing as per whatever we asked.

Loved working with him and will certainly be back in touch for our wedding, and any other time we need someone with professional photography / videography skills.

Tom was an absolute delight to work with. I contacted him a month before my engagement and he quoted me a great price. We agreed to pay half up front and the remaining amount after I received the photos/videos. He stuck to his word and was accessible at all times leading up to the engagement. He was as invested into the whole day playing out as planned as I was. Tom was very helpful with his suggestions as well as doing his own research upfront. He went to the location multiple times to plan out where he would be hiding and sent me pictures showing his vantage point/views. He even marked the area where we should be standing. I was very happy with his work and professionalism. I would highly recommend Tom for any type of event. He's great! More...

My husband Doug and I commissioned Tom to be our photographer for our 50th vow renewal.  He went beyond the standards as far as taking the usual pictures for us. Not only did he capture the moment we had at our renewal in Mill Valley at The Acqua Hotel, but he also drove us to a beautiful lookout called Strawberry Pt. where he again shot many more pictures.  We'd recommend Tom to anyone who lives in the Bay Area or who is traveling out there and needs a photographer. He was amazing.  Nancy & Doug Martin, Denver, CO     Definitely rate Tom as a 10 More...

Tom is the best !!! I came to California from out of state for my 10 year wedding anniversary I wanted to hire a photographer to have a professional photo to remember our trip . Because I was from out of state I had a lot of questions about the area and he was always happy to answer them . The day of the shoot he was on time and had already picked out a few wonderful spots to take the photos. He took so many great photos I am finding it hard to pick out the ones I want to frame and hang on my wall . Like I said Tom is the BEST!!

Tom took breathtaking drone shots and drone video of my property in San Rafael. He expertly captured the beauty of the environment. Tom is wonderful at working with direction. I had a very clear idea of the feeling I wanted to transmit with my interior shots and he delivered. Tom brought his technical expertise to capture the stature and elegance of each room. Overall, Tom is a pleasure to work with! More...

I've now hired Tom for a couple of events and he always goes above and beyond the call of duty. I like the fact that he produced both photos and videos for my events. He's very flexible and open to direction, but also has great instincts. Bonus: he took these awesome aerial photos of the venue which provided great establishing and closing shots/videos of the event. Very easy to work with, dependable, fast. Need I say more? More...

We hired Tom to shoot a commercial high rise on a dense urban site. He arrived on time and did exactly what was promised: 4k video capture. He uploaded the full video quickly. Very happy with his services. More...

Another Awesome Batch of Pictures From Thomas!SITREPAlways a fun time to be with Thomas when he is at work capturing the fun and special moments like at the recent "Marin's Best! "THE SETUPMarin's Best is a charitable organization created by a group of concerned parents and volunteers from the Marin Community, and they support the social, educational, and sports activities for persons in Marin County who have developmental disabilities (DD).  Events like this are a tremendous way to bring the community together and share their hopes - through action - for a better life for DD adults.Thomas Rosencrantz Photography does exceptional work in creating and memorializing those magical moments with his camera to share with both participants and organizers alike.GOOD TIMESMy friend Bridgette and I were part of the promotion through CellarPass and other related groups - we grabbed our reservations and were looking forward to this Monday night here at The Lighthouse Bar & Grill in Mill Valley.  Of course, Tom captured one of our moments there true to form!yelp.com/biz_photos/thom…Thomas was on hand to document the festivities and he was diligent capturing the moments between the competitors.  Oh!  Did I forget to say that the event-aspect was a Tequila Drink contest between competing bartenders?Everyone was having a good time drinking tequila, eating tacos, and raising money for the "Marin's Best" Community groups providing support and activities for the disabled adults in Marin County.THE LOWDOWNThank you, Thomas Rosencrantz Photography (and Tom!) for making memorable events even MORE memorable after they are over.  :) More...

Thomas Rosenkrantz of Thomas Rosencrantz Photography is always professional, approachable, versatile, easy going, and a friend at OYE. I see he takes his work seriously but at the same time has fun with it. He is always friendly to my girlfriend and I. He always wears a big smile. His work speaks for itself as well. Look at his portfolio. It makes me want to go on vacation again. I could write for some time all the reasons why he is good at what he does. So I will just say, have him cover your events. His work speaks for itself. Indoors or outside he makes use of light, objects, and situations to create photographs and not just record shots. We look forward to seeing you again at the next Yelp Elite event. It's nice to have an artist on the team. More...

Tom is not only a friendly photographer, he's adventurous and innovative in his approach.  He is excellent at capturing the moment rather it's a contrived shot or totally candid. He puts in the effort and his photos really show that, he gets to know his subjects and that makes his work interesting and intimate. Whatever the event, I would trust Tom to capture it perfectly. I have found myself at more than a couple of events now where Tom has been the Photographer, and I have gotten to see his finished work. Wow!Tom has the eye of a great artist and the technical skills that make for some stunning photos. He has created some great photos using interesting angles, vivid colors, and wonderful framing effects. I have watched as he goes about his work with stealth and deftness .... later, when I would see the photos I would think, "How'd you even get that shot?"  I'm always impressed. You will be too. He always has a very unassuming presence, which is perfect for such special events. The right photographer can turn even an average event into a wonderful memory. That's what Tom has given us, wonderful memories. More...

Tom is one of the more talented photographers and quite honestly I can say that with pride as I have been around quite a few terrible ones in my time. What makes Tom excel above many of the rest, well first and foremost he effortlessly blends in with the crowd. One may not think that is a huge deal, but if you have been around enough amateur photographers, you find yourself having to pose constantly as they want that "perfect shot", and or running into them from time to time. Tom is able to capture the most pristine shots with ease, whether from distance or up close and personal and again not invading your space. Now I am not an aspiring photographer in any sense, but the wealth of knowledge Tom has makes you feel reassured he knows what he is doing. Not to mention the fact he comes fully prepared with various cameras, lens, and his drone (He is prepared). Speaking of the drone, killer aerial photos without anyone knowing he is operating the device, unlike myself who would end up running it into a tree and looking like a dunce. I'd say one of the most important traits Tom brings along is his wonderful personality, which is always a great trait as no one wants to deal with a rude photographer, especially if you hired one for an event. So after over a year of seeing Tom work his magic, I can honestly say I could suggest him to anyone really looking for a professional photographer! More...

Shooting ratio.  A comparison of the number of shots a photographer makes relative to the number of images they elect to keep.  The shooting ratio was perhaps more relevant back in the olden times when images were made on film, and most definitely when they were made on glass.  Ansel Adams would pack large format glass on animals into the Sierra wilderness, bringing a few dozen plates and imagine how low your ratio must be when you're hundreds of miles from home with only a handful of chances to make something worthy.  That he could pull this off and produce some of the most magnificent place photography of all time is what makes Adams and his contemporaries - Lang, Evans, Arbus - iconic.Thomas doesn't shoot film.  Thomas shoots zeroes and ones.  Even if he wanted to make images on celluloid it would be a feat to pull off, as film suppliers and paper makers and chemical manufacturers and processors have gone the way practically of the dinosaurs.  The application of the ratio in a digital world is different for as there are different constraints.  You get more than a few rolls or two dozen plates to make it work.  You can shoot like Al Capone with a Canon Tommy gun so long as you have cards w memory.  Thousands of shots.  But maybe this ability will have you less motivated to learn about light, or depth of field, or composition.  You'll just shoot your subject until it practically isn't even there anymore.  And guess what!  You still might not get it right.  Your ratio is 1,500:0.T. R. gets it right.  Most of what I've seen him make are images of the beautiful North Bay Yelpen as he works to preserve magical moments, silly moments, delicious moments.  And with recognition that his subjects are lovely, the dishes often so perfectly plated, the vibe uncomplicated and happy, it makes it no easier.  A shooter could still screw it up.  But dig it, go to our party pages and see for yourself, Thomas does not screw it up.  He even makes me look pretty and I kid you not this is a magical act even in itself.Thank you for your hard work, Mr. R.  You make this world more beautiful.  I'm sure I speak for many when I say you are appreciated and an aspect of the weekend soirees that we look forward to.  I'd recommend your practice to anyone wanting to preserve a special moment. When describing Tom Rosencrantz in one word: It would be "excellent"! His incredible talent for photography is undeniable and it shines through each and every photo that he takes. I've had the pleasure of working with Tom during several different events. He is extremely professional and has a knack for capturing the best moments on camera.  He harbors a skillset that allows him to capture the most intriguing images through his great angle usage and lighting techniques.  He brings life to his photos and each image tells a story. I love being able to relive those precious moments simply by going through the photos that he's taken from the past. The quality of the images are top grade and crystal clear. I'm always so shocked at how beautiful the images are after the final edits. I'm a pretty hard critic when it comes to photography since my Mother has been in the business herself for many years. But, Tom is just phenomenal! He even makes ME look good on camera, and I'm SUPER critical of self portraits. Anybody who can make me look good in photos gets extra points in my book! (Wink wink).I mustn't forget to mention Tom's specialty in drone photography! The panoramic and drone pan images are just wonderful! He is really just a one stop shop! From landscapes to portraits, Tom Rosencrantz is your man! He comes highly recommended and I always look forward to working with him. More...

I have had the pleasure of meeting and watching Tom at work during several Yelp elite events. First off, Tom is a delightful guy. Happy, friendly, gregarious.  He gets along with everyone. Second off, when Tom is working he is stealthy and unobtrusive. Practically no one should feel camera shy around Tom as he works without making a fuss. If you need a professional photographer for your special event, without reservation I highly recommend Tom. More...

To me photographers are like mechanics and hairdressers, it's hard to find a really good one who truly understands your photographic needs. Tom's pictures are works of art and speak for themselves.  He not only takes fantastic posed pictures (indoors, outdoors, at wineries, on a train, wherever) but he knows how to capture moments without you even knowing that he's there. Tom can capture moments for any occasion, for events, pictures of wild life and so much more.  It's those little nuances that makes his pictures so special and stunning.  And if you need that little something extra he can capture some fantastic moments with his drone. I've attended several events over the past few years where I have seen Tom in action. He is very professional, thorough and he has an eye for things that others wouldn't. If you are looking for a professional photographer who can make memories even more memorable I highly recommend Tom as his photographs are nothing short of phenomenal! More...

Tom's been my go-to event photographer for the past two years. I can't say enough good things about him and his work. He has a very keen eye and knows how to truly capture the spirit of a party. Here's my checklist for a good photographer:1) Punctual (check!)2) Professional (check!)3) Personable with guests and host (check!)4) Captures all aspects of the party - from smiling guests to the delicious food/drinks being served, to beauty shots of the hosting venue (check, check, and check!)5) Delivers the final photos in a timely manner (check!)Tom delivers on all of the above. I can't recommend him enough! More...

Q&A

Your subject feeling comfortable with your/my ability and then.... truly understanding "light" well, is what separates the average photographer from the good ones. Can't hurt to take many photos for the occasion, to make sure you capture, that ideal shot. Then, knowing how to edit becomes the next part of the equation and that takes years of experience, something I pride myself on.

Expectations and concrete details, help make for a well planned photographic experience. I like to ask the tough questions, so that there are less hiccups down the road.

Working with a variety of different people and finding my skills and experience to help deliver... an end product that they go "Wow" to. Making people happy and showing that in your work, is what gets you.. repeat business.

I've almost always been that go getter to do my own type of work. I've learned from being independent and achieving high marks, how to get the most from my abilities and therefore, offer, high end services. I push myself and know how to get results and my results speak for themselves.

Focused, experienced and I've been told, a pleasure to work with. I deliver, great product and if for some reason you're not happy, I do all that I can to make it right.
