What do you love most about your job?

My job allows us to use my passion to help others. Every client and every transaction presents a new opportunity to help, learn, and provide value to everyone I work with.

I also enjoy challenges and teaching other, both of which my job allows me to do...while I get paid! :)

What inspired you to start your own business?

I'm an ambitious goal setter and was born with entrepreneurial genes. My Dad has been an entrepreneur for 35 years! After working at Deloitte (the largest CPA Firm in the world) for years, I began to realize that there was a gap in the market for small business and individual accounting services.

I never understood why more firms didn't provide full-service accounting services to their clients (i.e. do your bookkeeping/accounting AND taxes), so I decided to create it myself. Small business owners and working individuals don't have time to waste on classifying expenses, reviewing a bookkeepers financial statements or combing through their spending for the month...and then coordinating with an independent CPA to have their taxes done...

So we decided to solve that issue by bringing the full package of CPAs AND accountants/bookkeepers to businesses and individuals across the United States. Our team collaborates daily in order to keep track of any accounting developments that might affect the tax side of your business or personal finances, as well as completes all reporting and tax returns under the same roof!

It just makes so much more sense that way!!!

Why should our clients choose you?

You can think of accountants and tax experts kind of like your doctor. You go once per year typically, but it's crucial to keep up and listen to them! But, let's say you needed surgery...would you want a General Practitioner to perform surgery on you?...Probably not, so why would you want a general accountant?!

Our TEAM is made up of experts in various fields of accounting and tax so you always get an expert instead of a generalist. We have an incredible TEAM of individuals that compliment each other extremely well, so we can tap into varying areas of expertise to best serve our clients. For instance, we have one individual that has over ten years experience in individual tax and accounting, but then another that has tenured experience in partnership accounting and taxation, and yet another that has 10+ years experience in Real Estate taxation and accounting.

We tap into our collective knowledge for each and every client at an incredibly low cost, because of our virtual operations. No overhead means more money to spend on smart people to do the work for you, without you having to pay more!

There are a number of factors that are worth considering when choosing your tax accountant. These include:

  • Professional qualifications - You should check that they have completed relevant qualifications which are regulated by their professional body. In addition, they should be keeping their skills and knowledge up to date through continuing professional development. They are also required to hold Professional Indemnity Insurance.

  • Invest time - Invest time in finding the right adviser. Research their websites and meet those on your shortlist. When you meet them decide if they are approachable and understand businesses of your size and in your sector. It is helpful if they have expertise in particular areas of tax that you require advice for. Find out if they provide services that you may need now and in the future.

  • First meeting - Check in advance whether the first meeting is free of charge.

  • Charges - Establish the basis of fees and when they will be payable. Ask for an estimate and check what is included such as additional charges for other services (e.g. VAT, Payroll). You may be able to minimise charges by doing some work yourself and by using a compatible accounting package.

  • Terms of engagement - You should receive a letter setting out what your adviser will and will not do for you in the terms of the engagement.

  • Keeping them informed - You should keep your adviser informed of any changes in your business or personal circumstances. Plus, you should seek their advice in advance if you are considering retiring, selling or giving away an interest in your business or a significant asset.

You can be confident that any of the Bark local tax accountants listed will give you a reliable and professional service.

It can be tempting for sole traders to monitor their own financial situation and attempt to save additional overheads when margins are tight.
