My son had a great time training with Abbie for a super last minute theatrical audition. He had to be able to sing a song for an acting role. I grew up performing, and wanted to make it a career. I LOVED studying to voice and all of my instructors pushed me to understand it deeper, and saw potential in me to teach one day. After having studied a bit in college and applying it I enjoyed teaching but realizing that college was not my route and still wanted to get more qualification to continue coaching. A mentor of mine encouraged me to get certified in vocal pedagogy as a vocal instructor, so I did! I have successfully been able to do so part time. My full-time job is my family!
Because I am brutally honest in a kind way. No one knows the answer to everything, we are all still learning. In my continued education I have access to ask questions to my mentors and make sure I am helping my students dive into their voice fully. I also provide materials which not many teachers do. We go through the performance aspects of singing as well, and I cater each lesson to match your specific goals.
Yes! I accept students virtually worldwide and have been since 2018. The initial trial lesson takes place through Zoom, then going forward I encourage the use of the platform Forte or Skype!
We try to keep lessons virtual. There are applications for in-person lessons, not all applications get approved. Since Mikah has family and a small child we don't want to run the risk of introducing anyone to any illnesses, so we are very upfront about that. Her son is home during lessons, in his room. All areas are sanitized before in-person lessons and after. There is a strict policy for any illness, you can reschedule if you're sick with a make-up credit.
