My name is Kevin and I am, CEO of, MUSICTIME. My students tell me that my sessions are allot of fun. Whether learning voice or guitar my lessons are, performance orientated. That means it must sound beautiful. Some perform for a special someone and others are seeking to play for anyone who will listen. I believe music should be shared...Eventually. My teaching method is based on cutting edge research, revealing how people learn music best. Did you know that learning music make you smarter? Just ask your device. I have created a way to learn music faster & retain better. Some of my students have been with me for years. My students range from 5 year old kids to 70 year old adults. Also, all new students tell about their favorite songs & music groups. These are the songs you will apply technique's to. If you are a singer, you will be singing songs that you know {most} words to, in your key, not theirs. If you are learning guitar, you will learn the song the original key unless your gonna sing. I also offer a, MASTER CLASS for those who wish to combine singing with an instrument {piano or guitar}. This adds the fundamentals with everything related to performance. From smooth chord inversion to eye contact with your audience. When it comes the kids I teach, I think they see the kid in me and it makes them comfortable. What I love about teaching the kids is, they don't know what supposed to be difficult. I talk to them and they tell their goals & dreams. So many great stories and videos. I have not totally figured out why kids do so well here. I think its because I approach kids as, little people with the greatest potential. My students seem to like the fact that I am a professional entertainer. I currently perform all over North Carolina and before that I had a band for 13 years in NYC. I never say, please practice. I say, spend some time with your instrument.
I will tell you that I feel like, Dr. Frankenstein because my students come in one way and meet the world as a musician. I love the fact that they now have a skill that will only leave them if they stop loving it.
Starting as a singer with a band I learned that every professional musician is a business. For me, it was more like expansion than starting a new business. I thought it was about time to share a very particular set of skills and techniques with a very select set of individuals who are wanting to go after a passion. The goal is not as far as they think it is and I show them step by step how we get there. It is part of what i share with some of my students.
For more progress than you seek. My plan is to map out a real goal or i should say, goals.
I think I am happy for my very young students because if you can acquire techniques early, you will go far. For many of my young students, the goal is stardom. For those students, I have them start their own, music bible. For the singer, it will contain 123 steps on, how you will warn up your voice, Breath and body stretching that should be done. We break it all down from, riffs {fast notes}. to commanding a long tone and adding vibrato.
I send, ZOOM links to my students. Though I can make use various apps, Zoom seems to be the best median for most of my online students. I also can make use of apps like, whats app, and Uno as well. Most times I will send you the link for the scheduled time.
Most of my students {90%} are On-line right now. However, in my studio I wear a mask and it is optional for my piano & guitar students. I always disinfect the btwn students and require all singers to purchase a foam windscreen. My singers are on the microphone with their own windscreen over the mic.
