Marquis Harris of Marquis Entertainment personally saved my son's sixteenth birthday. Everything that could go wrong had for my son's sixteenth birthday. With barely a week before the party was supposed to happen, the hall fell through. The food and music backed out. I was sure we were going to have to cancel on my son. I called Marquis, desperate. He listened to our situation, then calmly assured me "we're in this boat together, and we are not sinking". Easy enough for someone to say, but rare to mean, especially in situations like this. Yet he meant it. He hung up with me and started calling around for us. In no time at all, he'd found us another hall (YAY RICCIOS!) and an awesome caterer (THANK YOU DEEDEE!) But that's not where he stopped. His friendly an easygoing manner, as well is his very real skill, managed to get everyone on their feet and out of their shell. Play a good mix of music that the guest want to hear. If its not working, change it. The crowd on the dance floor will tell you whats working without verbally telling you whats working but I wouldn't consider this a secret. Lol
We were influenced by the early 80's era of DJing. During the time of mixing music using hand picked vinyl records and recording mixes on cassette tapes. We have taken that experience and put it to use to keep a non stop seamless transition of music genres flowing and the dance floor moving. We are not an iPod dj that will play songs in its entirety back to back. We are also not the over the top dj that will come out and grab you to try and teach you a new dance or single you out with jokes to keep you entertained. Our style is like having an experienced Club DJ that knows how to professionally work and engage with weddings. We cater to your crowd and crack the mic only when its needed.
Our job is so rewarding. The power of music is undeniable. We love to see people enjoy themselves and get lost in the music. Music creates memories that last a lifetime so we are very fortunate to be able to work in the service industry that creates special moments.
I started djing in 1987 as a hobby then it turned into a passion for me almost immediately. I grew up during the early 80's when break dancing was the thing to do. So naturally I gravitated to the DJ that was in control of the music. I not only loved hearing the creativity of music mixing but, also watching the DJ transition his records seamlessly together while seeing peoples reactions of excitement when a certain song was played. This fueled my fire to want to learn to DJ so I emptied my very short pockets in the process by buying some below basic DJ equipment and shopping for records every time I had money. Eventually after a couple of years of practicing I transitioned from a bedroom DJ to working in some of the most popular dance clubs in my area while also earning a spot to work in the radio industry during my early days as a DJ.
As the years passed I became more experienced and my reputation grew which led to more private event jobs for me. So in 2001 I decided to turn my passion into a legit business. Since then, I've met and worked with many types of professional vendors at many of the popular wineries, country clubs & banquet halls related to the wedding & event industry in my area. I was finally fortunate enough to make this my full time profession in 2017. I love what I do.

3. I am bilingual in the Spanish language if needed.
Although we prefer to provide services live and in person, we can provide DJ service remotely if needed. However, a consultation in person or over the phone would need to take place before hand to discuss the very important details as much of the service would be at the mercy of the online connection provider. We would transmit audio and video via the Zoom conference service platform or some other sort of third party video conference service.
We have had to learn to adapt to the covid guidelines put in place by the state wherever needed. For safety measures, we will wear protective face mask, use sanitation gels, gloves or other items as needed as requested by the client or venue. We can also provide proof of vaccine. Whatever is needed to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
