Our experience has been great!! In just two in person sessions our puppy is a whole different pup! James is so patient and has taught us how to communicate with our puppy.

James is a wonderful trainer for our beagle. I can’t believe the progress he’s made with on-leash and off-leash training. We’ve owned a beagle before & didn’t think it was possible to get a beagle to follow commands as James has.

I’ll acknowledge that I’ve seen some extreme reviews, both positive and negative about James and his businesses. I can only offer my direct experience, and why I give James a 5/5.

- My dog was highly leash reactive, aggressive, didn’t walk nicely, and didn’t follow instructions.
- It’s only been a few months of group classes and a couple of 1:1 sessions, and my dog is materially better. There’s still work to do, but the transformation is clearly happening.
- We tried so many methods, some other trainers, and wasted a lot of money, but haven’t found anything remotely as effective and affordable as James.
- James is a good communicator. He is knowledgeable, collaborative, and takes the time to get to know each dog individually.
- His classes are regular, on-time, accessible, and fun.

I rescued Tecca, a 3-year-old female American Staffordshire Terrier who had been removed from an abusive situation and then spent 18 months with a dog rescue agency.

Tecca displayed every undesirable behavior you could think of, including (but not limited to), pulling and lunging on leash, aggressiveness towards our other dog, our 80-year-old California Desert Tortoise, kids, adults, cars, motorcycles, crows, and more! I basically couldn’t take her anywhere without an overreaction to everything that moved, looked like it was going to move and/or made noise.



When James first came to our house, Tecca lunged at his face, not once, but twice! James very quickly got her under control, and then we sat down and discussed the plan going forward.



With James’ guidance, I learned how to work with Tecca to gain behavioral changes which occurred immediately after our first training session. The “triggers” I mentioned earlier are now non-existent! I can take her anywhere and know that she will be a stellar canine.

James holds group classes every Sunday at Liberty Station where he teaches dog owners to work with their dogs to be well behaved around other dogs, as well as teaching manners so they can be brought to restaurants and other dog friendly environments. During his group training sessions, James also works with owners to prepare their pups for the Canine Good Citizen test. I am proud to say that Tecca passed her Canine Good Citizen test! 



I can’t emphasize enough how much I recommend James for all kinds of dog training. I have witnessed him get results from the biggest, fiercest dog to the tiniest little fluff ball, not to mention Tecca!

Can’t put into words what an amazing trainer James is! Our dog had been picked up by his rescue as a 1yo stray and we came to James with a reactive Covid family pet.
