What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
I'm not sure it's a "Secret," yet an aspect that I love about photography is when you feel and see the initial plan grow and expand in ways you never thought of when planning and visualizing the shoot. I am a sensitive artistic person. I have enough experience to trust my artistic sensibilities. I love when creatives all get together and we build upon the initial idea and it becomes more than any of us had imagined. That's the best! And I shoot for those occurrences constantly. Keeping an open mind and allowing the pictures to blossom right before our eyes. And make sure to see the colors of the model/ persons eyes! Extremely important to me.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Every project is different.
Typical questions are:
- What is the style of your brand?
- How can we make these shots better than previous shots you've had taken?
What do you love most about your job?
Lighting. I love Lighting. I love how the right lens, with the right lighting, can bring out all the beauty of a product and a person. With keen eyes and a knowledgeable skill set, you can make a product or a person look their best. Better than they normally do. Which is like magic. I still get blown away at the final images. Mesmerized with the beauty and elegance a photo can convey. That is amazing to me and it never ceases to amaze me.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I got started in High school. Fell in love instantly the 1st time my hands touched a camera. And somehow instinctively understood it. Friends of mine were in a band. My brother and I shot the music video. I was in love with how this object can capture an image. I soon had multiple cameras always hanging around my neck and a spot meter in my hand. I have since never put photography down.
