Had an absolutely lovely 5 course meal for our Rat Pack themed dinner party. Chef Jeff communicated with me a few day days before the event to make sure he had all the details. He was on time and everything was seamless. The portions were huge (much larger than expected) and the food was delicious. Everyone’s favorite was definitely his spin on pasta fazool. My kitchen is super small, and I was amazed that he was able to do 5 courses for 8 people. Chef Jeff timed everything perfectly. We had the exact right amount of time to eat and didn’t wait long between courses. Miguel was our bartender and he made amazing drinks. I had a cocktail pairing for every course and he had the drinks ready and served them promptly with every dish. After everything was finished, my kitchen was returned to a clean state with nothing left for me to do. Our glassware rentals were washed and put back in the bins and my personal silverware was rinsed and put in the sink. I had to prep absolutely nothing and clean up absolutely nothing. They made it too easy. We will certainly be using this company again and requesting Chef Jeff and Miguel. Could not recommend them more. I hired Luke for my birthday celebration for a special sit down sushi dinner with my family and friends. He arrive earlier than I expected which was amazing and set up everything before the time I wanted to start the dinner. His server and him were so professional and patient because it took sometime to get everyone situated. A few days before our dinner, Chef Luke had an accident and was unable to come. He promptly arranged to have Chef Jeff (of LK Culinary)come in his place. Chef Jeff was fantastic!! He prepared a flawless french dinner and gave brief cooking lessons (which I had requested) for each course. The food was fabulous. I couldn't have been happier and each guest was delighted with the evening. And, the kitchen was immaculate when he left. The only thing I think could have been improved upon was this: given that Chef Luke had to cancel on short notice and given that he is the business owner, I was surprised that he didn't reach out AFTER the event to see if I was pleased with his substitute. Using a private chef to help me prepare for an important 24-30 person annual event in my home was a new experience. But being a person of a certain age, normally helped over several days by other people of a certain age, I thought hiring a professional would help. BOY DID IT!! This was not an everyday thing. Luke had to follow my family recipes not do his own thing. And that's often way more difficult that cooking a menu you've devised yourself. And we had to do it all in one day (except I pre-made the chicken soup). I figured it would take from morning till night. Luke said "trust the chef, it won't take that long." Luke was right - we worked from 10 am until 2 in the afternoon, when everything was cooked, sitting out to cool or already in the fridge, ready to be re-heated the next day. Because of finding Luke, next year the even will be larger and I hope to be in a small conference center instead of my home. I couldn't do that if I had to prep everything over many days. There are a lot of home cooks that might have a couple signature dishes, but a chef can create top notch cuisine on a regular basis. LK Culinary can deliver on any cuisine and any dish request.
How do you go about creating the perfect menu for your clients?
Every project is a special experience when every project is custom designed and executed. Typical menu creation takes 1-3 days based on client feedback. From there we plan everything out to execute the cuisine the day of the event to maximize quality.
What do you love most about your job?
Every day is something special and unique as a personal chef. My client's friendliness and hospitality is what really makes all of this special. The special bond I share with my clients makes it totally worth it!
