What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
It’s less about the gear and more about intention. A great photograph tells a story—it captures energy, emotion, or detail that makes the viewer feel something. That could mean freezing a split-second reaction at a keynote event, or framing a quiet moment between colleagues at a networking dinner.
Technically, it’s a balance of light, composition, and timing. But the real secret? Understanding your subject and anticipating the moment. Especially with event photography, it’s about being present and proactive—reading the room, knowing when something’s about to happen, and positioning yourself to catch it without interrupting the flow.
A great photo feels effortless to the viewer—but behind the lens, it’s all about awareness, empathy, and knowing exactly why you’re pressing the shutter.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Every great shoot starts with listening. I ask questions to understand not just what the client wants to see—but what they want to feel when they see the final images. Here are a few things I always ask:
1. What’s the purpose of these photos?
Are they for personal memories, social media, a campaign, a gift, a website? Knowing the why behind the shoot shapes everything from how I compose shots to how I edit them.
2. What’s most important to capture?
Whether it’s a candid connection, a specific product, or a key moment, I want to make sure we’re aligned on what matters most.
3. How do you want the photos to feel?
Casual and natural? Bold and stylized? Romantic? Playful? This helps guide everything from location to posing to lighting.
4. Do you have any inspiration or references you love—or things you want to avoid?
Mood boards or example shots help translate your vision into something I can deliver visually.
5. What’s the timeline, and are there any must-know details?
Whether it’s a tight schedule, a surprise element, or just making sure we have the best light, these logistics help everything run smoothly.
6. Is there anything you’re nervous about or want me to be mindful of?
This could be body image concerns, camera shyness, or just wanting extra guidance. Creating a comfortable environment is key to getting great images.
Ultimately, it’s about collaboration. My job is to create space for people to show up as themselves—whether that’s in front of a crowd or in a quiet moment—and then capture it in a way that feels true to them.
What do you love most about your job?
Honestly? It’s the connection.
There’s something powerful about being invited into someone’s world—whether it’s a couple sharing a private moment, a brand unveiling something they’ve worked hard to build, or a client trusting you to capture a once-in-a-lifetime event.
Photography lets me freeze moments that would otherwise pass unnoticed. It’s not just about aesthetics—it’s about preserving feeling, energy, and truth. I love when a client sees a photo and says, “That’s so us.” That’s when I know I’ve done my job.
And no two shoots are ever the same. Every story, every face, every setting brings something new. It keeps me curious, grounded, and creatively fulfilled.
What inspired you to start your own business?
It came down to wanting more creative freedom—and more meaningful work.
I found myself constantly chasing someone else’s vision, following templates, and limiting the kind of projects I could take on. But I knew I had a perspective, a style, and a way of working with people that didn’t quite fit into someone else’s box.
Starting my own business let me build something that reflects who I am and how I want to work. I get to choose clients who align with my values, create space for more intentional collaboration, and bring a personal touch to every shoot.
Why should our clients choose you?
Because I don’t just show up with a camera—I show up with intention.
Whether it’s a brand session, a wedding, or a multi-day event, I focus on understanding what really matters to you. The small details. The big emotions. The story behind the moment. I don’t believe in cookie-cutter photography. Every session is tailored to the people in front of the lens.
You’ll get someone who’s professional, calm under pressure, and genuinely invested in making you feel comfortable—so the images feel honest and effortless.
And beyond just great photos, you’ll get a partner you can trust to handle your vision with care, communicate clearly, and deliver work you’ll be proud to share.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
The final images will be hosted online but I will need to be in person to take the images.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I am vaccinated and don't show up unless I feel 100%. If someone would like me to wear a mask, I am happy to do so.
