I have been working with Joy for the past 6 months. When I started with her my anxiety was so bad that there were days I couldn’t get out of bed. Now even though I still have some anxiety it doesn’t consume me like it has in the past. Her approach is using the Internal Family System and to understand the different parts or sub personalities that are me. Anxiety and joy have always been in a constant struggle for me. And now through her help I finally have some peace with myself. Joy is kind, patient, empathetic and caring. I know I can trust her and not be judged. Words can not explain how much she has helped me. I can trying say with her work I can now find the joy in life I’ve been searching for. Thank you Joy! More...

I am so grateful that I found Joy Elohim when I did. After unexpectedly losing my soulmate of 60 years, I was nearly paralyzed by shock and numbness for months before I began counseling with Joy.
I felt unable to accomplish anything I believed to be important. Joy has helped me to understand that my numbness was protecting me from the pain of trauma.
Joy’s compassionate, empathetic, knowledgeable and nonjudgmental approach gave me tools to make my way from deep grief to acceptance. Thanks to the guidance and expertise of this wonderful caring counselor, I have found inner peace as I adjust to my strange new life as a single woman. I highly recommend Joy Elohim, Grief Guide, for anyone struggling with grief or trauma.
Regarding virtual sessions: Don’t let the virtual sessions deter you from reaching out to Joy for phone consult. I found her virtual sessions to be more effective than I imagined. It was just as though she was sitting right in front of me in my home - excellent eye contact and calm speech demonstrated empathy and understanding.

I have to admit, I was skeptical if therapy would be beneficial for me, bit working with Joy has opened my eyes to just how important and impactful it can be. We began Parts Work as a way to help me grieve from the loss of my beloved dog, Finnigan, but the work we’ve done has improved my life in every facet. I cannot recommend Joy enough—she is patient and kind and really helps you get to the root of your feelings. She brings out things in me that I didn’t even know where there. 100 stars. Love her! After losing my beloved bulldog, Philly, completely unexpectedly about a month shy of her 10th birthday, Joy has been able to gently guide me through debilitating pain and sorrow in such an empathetic, kind and caring manner. I lost my husband and I got to a point where I was lost in the grief. In a moment of hopelessness, I looked into grief counseling and that led me to Joy. I was very skeptical at first, but after the first session I felt stronger and I continue to feel better after every session. Joy has guided me through this journey in a way that I feel understood. She has helped me learn how to navigate this very difficult journey and helped me adapt to this new version of life. This has been a huge step in my healing and I don’t think I could’ve found a better fit for grief counseling. I’m very thankful for Joy. More...

Joy was lovely to work with. She was flexible with scheduling which meant a lot to me since I'm going through terrible grief and not always ready to talk. She was very open and understanding and helped me to recognize and accept emotions i am feeling. I was also able to relate to her because she is a little older like myself so has been through things that she was able to relate to. I would highly recommend her. More...

Bereavement Counseling
I sought help from Joy after the dissolution of my 47 year marriage.
This also had resulted in moving from So California to Ashland, OR.
I had always lived in SoCal where I had raised 4 children, 4 grandchildren. Not only did I leave them, but left many work colleagues, life long friends, and siblings with extended families. Joy helped me to wrap my grief and guilt of this huge loss into the context of abiding love and the beginning of a new love here in Ashland. Her calm and kind nature made it easy for me to access and express my emotions and concerns. Joy possesses listening skills that are deep and patient. Her responses were in tune with exactly what I needed to hear to move forward and establish new Hope. Joy’s thoughtful guidance brought me to a sense of understanding that allowed me to free myself from a narrative of guilt and grief. We left our time together open if, in the future, I should need to see her again. I would recommend Joy to anyone who feels they need support on any level in Life’s journey.
Thank you Joy!

She reminded me that I actually am more balanced than I thought I was and that I am getting better than I realized, I will keep seeing her to help me let go of the trauma and anxiety that I have been carrying for the past few months this year and learn more about my situation so I can be better and more emotionally fluid and know myself better.

Working with Joy was insightful and growthful (I just made up a word, but you feel me). We were able to decrease my feelings of disconnect with Self and the hopelessness that it brings. I was supported in a loving way to increase clarity, grasp my own true understanding, and to feel consistently inspired. I was able to connected to self-acceptance and have more than just begun to enjoy life more. And without years of doing "work;" simply putting down the agitation and embracing the coaching. It's awesome to know that Joy will be there if and when I need a coach again. More...

IFS Bereavement Practitioner
To support you in your grief, I combine Internal Family Systems (IFS), bereavement trainings and my life experiences of loss, including the suicide of a spouse, death of my parents, and loss of beloved pets. I am uniquely qualified to guide and support you through the roller coaster of thoughts and feelings following the loss of a loved one.
In grief, pain and suffering do not have to go hand in hand. The pain of grief is feeling the sadness, anger, missing and ache of your loss. The suffering is when you push down your feelings and get caught in painful loops of thoughts and feelings; the could've, should've, would've, if only..., etc.
If you're in pain and suffering, please don't wait, contact me today to schedule a free 30 minute consultation.
IFS Practitioner
Healing is waking up to the wholeness you already are. The foundation of my IFS approach is to hold you in a field of love and unconditional positive regard. I encourage you to develop a sense of curiosity about your experience of suffering, anxiety, grief, depression, etc; to learn how to bring compassionate presence to various parts of yourself and through this process experience relief and well being.
