I did a package deal for my daughter’s birthday party, the face painter was super sweet with the kids and she was amazing with all the designs. The balloon artist was a bit late and quite rude with not only me but very short with the kids. I would not recommend the male balloon artist that came, otherwise was a fairly good experience and I would recommend the company over all. This review is for Danielle. Henna isn't a closed practice but it should be if this is how you are going to treat it's cultural significance. Danielle, please learn how to accept criticism and learn about the actual cultures this art form comes from. I'm sure your art is lovely. But how disrespectful you were towards multiple cultures' styles and not knowing how significant certain imagery (the mandelas you called "filler" and the fact that you had no idea that the peacock in many Indian artforms represents opulence, royalty, and beauty and just shrugging it off as "a peacock thing Indians like") was beyond disrespectful. Not to mention that calling pre-mixed henna from Indian markets "incredibly toxic" is misinformation and, honestly, pretty racist. Calling certain styles you don't personally like "kind of ugly" is absolutely tragic and I'm sad for you that you cannot see the beauty that has existed in this form for thousands of years. Please educate yourself if you're going to teach classes on mehndi. Read "Henna Wars". Maybe you'll learn something about appropriation and appreciation. Because what you do is appropriation. I attended a library event where Danielle was hired to teach henna. Danielle was incredibly disrespectful of the cultures that use henna jagua. She shared misinformation about premixed henna cones (claiming that all premixed henna is incredibly dangerous and “full of toxic chemicals” is a flat out lie) and suggesting to only get henna from white suppliers, repeatedly called various cultures’ styles “kinda ugly” and “very masculine” as a way to insult them, used incorrect pronunciation and terminology and was very rude when corrected (just because people in the face painting community mispronounce “jagua” doesn’t mean the correct pronunciation isn’t important nor does it make it acceptable to call “mandala” just “fill”), and the henna she was using smelled quite bad. I’m sure this place is great for face painting, but if you’re hoping to have henna done, you should really look for someone who actually knows what they’re doing and is capable of respecting its origins. We were blown away by this crew. We had a huge event and they were amazing. Communication was quick and they followed up with me right before the event. The face painting was high quality and the paint stayed on great for the night, but was easy to remove after the event. They were talented, this was not your normal face paint, but elaborate and amazing designs. After their time was finished one of the boys had face planted in the sand and his face had to be washed off, Danielle stayed behind to paint a new face for him. Everyone loved Fantastic Face Painting. The artist did a great job. Children and adults were all satisfied with their face paint. She was quick and was able to get through to everyone who wanted a face paint. She was great with the kids and very professional. We tried to get a Henna tattoo for all four members of my family ($100+) and the girl who was doing the face painting let somebody go in front of us. We let them know that we had been waiting about an hour and we were next, and instead of admitting she made a mistake, she just argued with us. DO NOT EMPLOY these individuals. I was at the tulip festival over the weekend and allowed my girls to get their faces painted. While the painting job was amazing. .. the lady who began to charge us, apparently charged the wrong amount and went back AFTER I LEFT and changed the amount that was charged to my account. While only a few dollars and not much of a difference in my bank account; your dishonesty and sneakiness to go back in and change the amount of the "original" charge after my leaving, without my concent or even knowledge about it; is terrible customer service and completely dishonest.
