He provides beverages, makeup, combs, ties, mints, mirrors, light. Every possible knick-knack for the best portrait is provided. The studio space was located in the heart of the city in a beautiful building that is both secure and welcoming. The studio was easy to find, and the space felt established and warm. I'm not typically a fan of having my picture taken and admittedly have anxiety around being directed or being the focus of attention. Surprisingly, I had a wonderful time! Colby has what I imagine are unique but simple and functional ways to capture the best shots without making you feel like you're being asked to act, pose, or be a marionette. I hired Colby's Photos & Videos to take headshots and group shots for my boutique family law practice. He indicated that his standard practice was to take individual shots and then "photoshop" them into a group picture with a background of our choice. The group shots highlighed on his website looked professional and I agreed to the use of this method. However, when I received our group shot, I was beyond shocked at the poor quality...the pictures looked highly "cut and pasted" against a plain white background. More time (and money) was spent trying to come up with a different background that would not look so obviously "cut and pasted". When I received the images against the new backgrounds, the results were still a very poor quality and much less than what I had expected from a professional photographer. I feel like I could have taken better pictures myself! As the pictures were not usable by my firm, I paid what was left on the balance for Mr. McLemore's additional editing time. However, he said that per my signed contract, I was obligated to purchase an image package. I reminded him that the pictures were unusable and were not of a quality that I would ever agree to use in my social media marketing campaigns and that I did not want to purchase the use of any of the images. Mr. McLemore was unwilling to work with my firm on coming to a resolution of paying him a fair amount for his work without having to purchase any of the images. He threatened "next steps" if I did not purchase a package. I paid $1,200 for nothing plus losing time with our website awaiting updated pictures, which is why I wanted new headshots in the first place. For these reasons, do not use Colby's Photos & Videos. After working with Colby, I now understand why he ONLY gets 5 star reviews! Him and his assistant, Ashley, were extremely kind and welcoming. Beforehand, he even asked what music artists I wanted to listen to during my session so they could have it playing when I came in! They made sure every aspect of my headshot was what I wanted. He knew all the tips and tricks to angle my face in a way to minimize my forehead and his assistant made sure my hair was always in the right spot. Then he does all the edits RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU and has you give him feedback on what else you want. He sent me my official headshot photo before I could even reach my car in the parking garage.
