What do you love most about your job?
There are two things I really love about my job. The first is the satisfaction I get from seeing a transformation in my clients' lives and how the changes they make so radically increases their life satisfaction. It is gratifying to see people's lives and relationships turn around and to feel like I was an integral part of that happening.
Secondly, I get a great deal of satisfaction out of getting to really know and connect with the people I work with. I am a curious individual and also passionate about relationships and the work I do. I enjoy really getting to know people at a deep level and the work I do with people allows this and continually provides me with more information to expand my own understanding, skills, and ability to help others.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Before opening this practice I worked for many years in a community mental health center. In addition to the personal freedom I was motivated to open this practice because it allowed me to specialize much more in what I cared most about: helping others create the best possible relationships they can. While that work was part of what I did at the CMHC I needed to do a lot more there as well. Opening my own practice has allowed me to specialize in what I am passionate about which then has allowed me to grow more and improve more in my ability to provide those services.
Why should our clients choose you?
You should choose to work with me if it is important to you to work with someone who has a great deal of respect for relationships and pays attention to that in the way they work. Psychology and the therapies that derive from it is often a very individual-focused science and art. As a consequence, many counselors focus almost exclusively on individuals and the work they do can even be damaging to relationships (you can get more information about this on my website). I prioritize relationships and believe their needs to be a balance between relationships and individuals in counseling.
