I don’t believe in using pain or harsh methods. Nor do I believe in purely positive training — because R+ trainers don’t believe in correcting a dog or setting boundaries. You see, every single dog is a little different. They don't all learn the same, and they don't all have the same background. A dog that has been abused is going to be very different from a new pup that has never missed a meal or had a bad life experience. You obviously shouldn't treat them both the same. Special circumstances require a seasoned professional that has worked with all these scenarios.

I use my 30 years of experience, yes THIRTY YEARS, in canine behavioral science (psychology/the science of learning) to help get to the root of problems and counter condition negative behaviors. I have a college education in anthropological behavioral sciences; Im currently finishing up a bachelors in psychology too. I know dogs, and I know what I'm doing. I've done clinical studies on aggression. I regularly work with dogs that are reactive with fantastic results. In my career, I've trained over 10,000 dogs!

I use classic and operant conditioning to help dogs make appropriate choices, teaching them how to think and reason. This will build your bond based on relationship training, not total coercion or constant correction either. Behavioral science proves that it’s a combination of methods that most often yields the best results.

Myth: Positive reinforcement means you need treats for them forever.

Fact: Positive reinforcement doesn't always mean treats. Sometimes, toys are the best reinforcement, sometimes a game of tug, but what it DOES always mean is that you're building a bond based on trust with your dog and learning how to control their drives.
