Located in the center of Venice, California on Abbot Kinney, Karen Lord Pilates Movement offers an intimate setting with private and semi-private sessions in an invitingly minimal space so the focus is on you, your fitness goals, and desires.
This lovely Pilates studio used to be a pop-up next to Gjusta and has now found a permanent space next to a wood working shop on Abott Kinney. The space is open, bright, and spacious with little spaces to change. The Pilates machines are brand-new. My class with Emily was really great: she started out with some stretches and lunges and then we moved into core moves. She really tailored the class to the level of the students, which I loved. Excellent attention to technique and form. Tip: parking on Abott Kinney is tough, try the public parking lots on Electric Ave behind Lemonade. Also, as of now, there’s only bottled water to purchase at the studio ($4) so fill up before you arrive. More...
I have been doing Karen's videos on YouTube (search: Karen Lord pilates) for several years and was so excited she relocated to LA so I could take studio classes in person.I started going to group reformer classes 2x week and saw shockingly quick results in how my body looked and felt after just 5 classes. Emotionally, the deep breathing and focus required in class calms my "monkey mind." The classes are challenging but not punishing, which is exactly what I'm looking for. I always leave class feeling better than when I walked in.Aside from the pilates, Karen is just an amazing, supportive person and you can't help but to feel good by being around her. In addition to Karen, I've also taken classes from Emily and Ellye and they were both great. Highly recommend KLPM! More...
I did a class with Emily today and she was probably one of the best Pilates instructors I have ever had. I have taken Pilates for over five years now and have taken classes at Mighty Pilates, Speir Pilates, Studio MDR, Pilates Place--so I know Pilates. Emily's precise instruction and tiny adjustments shows her as an expert of the human body and of Pilates. She's also a mom with a dramatic delivery so she can help with prenatal and postnatal mommas. The pop up space next to Gjusta is a plus (think Venice modern edgy) but apparently they are moving to a place next to Zinque soon. I will definitely be back. I attended through ClassPass but will pay for actual classes for Emily. More...
I llove her style. She is smazing
A gorgeous studio with awesome teachers. I've taken reformer classes with Brittany, Rachel and Melodie and they were all super tough but sweet. My favorite spot for Pilates!
