S

Stephens Tax Service

I have been a professional tax preparer for 13 years. I originally owned and operated a Liberty Tax Service franchise office and have been on my own for the last 7 years. I have clients across the country. I am a retired Navy officer, thus am veteran owned. I specialize in returns with small businesses with them (Schedule C, Sole Proprietorships and LLCs). I have a sub specialty with notaries and ride share drivers. Being military, I am comfortable with military returns. I can also do returns with Schedule D (capital gains) and Schedule E (rental property). I do not do S-Corp or C-Corp returns at this time. I service clients across the country. I am equipped to handle the exchange of information entirely electronically, via phone/text, email and the use of a Secure Client Folder. I accept payments by card on my website or electronically via CashApp, PayPal or Venmo. In case of audit, for all returns I provide an Audit Assistance guarantee that also includes identity theft assistance, should either ever be needed. I look forward to serving you.

What do you love most about your job?

Building relationships with my clients and helping them understand something that can be complex and confusing.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I had a 15 year small business banking career and served my country for 20 years in the Navy and the Navy reserves. After retiring from the Navy, I knew I wanted to explore entrepreneurship. In the Navy I was a Supply Corps Officer, the Navy's business managers. I was looking for a recession proof industry, have always been a numbers cruncher, and had spent enough time around income tax returns, profit and loss statements and balance sheets as a banker. I knew with some training I could make it in this industry. I'm now in my 13th year as a tax professional.

Why should our clients choose you?

I have served clients in the tax industry for 13 years. I hold an Annual Filing Season Preparer (AFSP) designation from the IRS and am working on my Enrolled Agent certification. I always take continuing education courses beyond what is required. For all clients I provide an Audit Assistance/Identity Theft Restoration certificate should they be subject to identify theft or have an audit need beyond the scope of my representation rights.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I have clients throughout the country and am equipped to handle everything electronically. We can communicate via phone/text/email. I use a secure, password protected client folder into which documents can be uploaded. I return a .pdf copy of the return the same way. I have us review the return together before submitting. I use an automated process to allow you to sign the return. Additionally, I accept payments by card on my website, electronically via CashApp, PayPal or Venmo, or, if applicable and for an additional cost, payment can be made out of the refund.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

For my national clients , nothing has really changed since it's remote. For my local clients, many of them have chosen to use the online servicing option as well.
