He is currently the president of TimeWarp Technologies, a software company that creates innovative resources for students, teachers, hobbyist players, and professional musicians. These applications provided a lifeline for teachers in 2020 when they were suddenly forced to move their teaching online as a result of the pandemic. In 2010, an application that he co-authored called Home Concert Xtreme won the MTNA-Frances Clark Award for Keyboard Pedagogy.

What do you love most about your job?

Music-making is an activity that integrates everything that makes us human. Teaching music has been an opportunity for me to accompany my students, however briefly, on an amazing journey of personal fulfillment.

What inspired you to start your own business?

In my early years, I found the activity of learning to play the piano to be quite challenging. As I learned to master the instrument, I became intrigued with the complex issues of how individuals learn, and that led me to become a teacher.

Why should our clients choose you?

I do not fit the typical conception that people have of a piano teacher. Although I respect and benefit from tradition, I use a variety of contemporary technologies to enable my students to become independent learners. This is something that is discussed more fully on my website: georgelitterst.com. In the United States and elsewhere, I am well known among piano teachers for my leadership in the field of music technology.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes, indeed! I gave my first lecture on long distance piano instruction at a national piano teacher conference in 1999. Since that time, I have developed software that connects any two MIDI-capable acoustic or digital pianos over the Internet. In addition, I have spent many years assisting other teachers in the use of these tools.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

At any time, my in-person students can switch to online lessons in order to avoid transmitting or receiving COVID, flu, colds, etc.
