My name is Steve, and I'm a guitar teacher. I've been playing for over twenty years, solo and in various bands in various styles. I've now been teaching for three years, and I absolutely love it. My focus is to give my students both the skills they need to sound amazing when they pickup their guitars and the understanding to continue to grow as musicians. I like my lessons to be guided by my students' interests and strengths, but structured toward building the fundamental skillsets they need to really enjoy playing music.
Before working with Steve, it had been about 10 years since I had taken guitar lessons or played consistently. While Steve is a great teacher overall, I've most appreciated his knowledge of music theory and his ability to explain not just how to do something, but the technicality behind it. Most of my musical background has been in classical piano, so it has also been fun to learn how to use that knowledge base to play around, be creative, and just have fun with music.
My daughter has taken guitar lessons for a couple of years with Paul Lidel, and we have only good things to say. She likes that he teaches by using songs that she wants to learn and not just practicing chords and scales. She says he's patient and goes into things in depth. She's happy and is steadily improving, so we're happy.
Are you are a singer at heart or a professional using your voice daily? We are creating singing courses that empower complete beginners to sing in tune, speak up, and grow confident. Here at Fierce Voice Academy, we believe in the healing power of music. Our mission is to empower 1 million voices who believe they “can’t sing” or “can’t speak in public.” Our teachers are trained in the latest vocal techniques and deeply understand the science and psychology behind effective communication.
Sean has been teaching my 6-year-old son classical guitar for about 3 years now. Progress was slow for the first year, but my son's pace of learning accelerated dramatically after that. Children really learn quickly with the right teaching. He now plays songs capably from Suzuki book 4 and RCA book 3 and is considered an intermediate-level player. He can also ready music well. At this rate, I expect him to be an advanced player before he is even out of elementary school. The fact that he has progressed so well is a testament to Sean's patience, experience, and approach. I also want to add that my son genuinely enjoys playing. I fully expect playing guitar to become a lifelong source of pleasure for him. That's a beautiful gift.
