Hello! My name is Kathy Petersen, I am a piano teacher and president and founder of Opus Music Academy. Opus Music Academy is a full-service music school serving the entire Twin Cities metro area, offering expert instruction on all instruments, voice, songwriting, audio production and more! Our mission is to bring people together through music, and making music lessons available and accessible to all.
Inspiring people to share music regardless of skill level!
I have wanted my own home studio for me personally. This allows me to share the opportunity of recording others for them to share on whatever level they choose. Whether it's for themselves or family and friends, it's about sharing. From instruments, to just a voiceover reading of your child's favorite book, I can someone spend a little or a lot of time and creating memories.
I have a wide range of taste in music and experiences, (classical, a cappella, new age, rock, heavy metal...) along with various instrument exposure. My primary focus instruments are piano, guitar, and voice. I took music theory in college for fun (I hear no one does that) and was 1st or 2nd in my class (never found out between my friend in class). I try to incorporate theory (lightly) to help people understand what's behind and what's driving the music.
Guitar and Theory can be done online. Of course, for studio time, you need to be around the metro area of Minneapolis, MN. Specifically I'm in the NW suburb area of Maple Grove.
