Russ Kelly is a Greenville SC native & acoustic musician with over 40 years of entertaining experience. Russ offers a diverse and well-rounded musical presentation making him one of the Upstate’s more versatile live entertainers. No musical genre is safe as Russ attacks songs of all types from the most popular Rock, Country, Pop, Oldies, and Top 40 selections. Many listeners recognize lost favorites not heard in years and find themselves drawn in by a diverse and extensive song catalogue. With a highly skilled and engaging presentation, Russ Kelly’s acoustic style fills venues with an energy and excitement that creates a memorable listening experience that defines an event. Russ began his performing career as a solo instrumental guitarist in the mid 1990’s. In 2004, he experienced an entirely different reaction from a listening audience after covering several 80’s songs in one of his performances. This birthed a new direction of playing high energy 70’s, 80's, & 90's cover tunes and becoming known around the Upstate as “The 80’s guy” and “The laser light show guy”. Always playing to the crowd at hand, most setlists are crafted on the fly and arranged in the moment based on the current dynamic of the audience. In addition to sometimes fielding unusual song requests, Russ also incorporates several signature features into his performances. Some of these include: Russ vs. audience 80’s song/artist recognition trivia, Up-next audience choice selections, and the widely popular “Kellyoke” – Russ Kelly’s personal twist on audience participation live karaoke.

It started decades ago when a friend asked me to play for his wedding reception and paid me to do it. From that point on, I developed a desire to become a polished musician and hone my live entertainment and presentation skills.
Music adds a finishing touch to any event. My goal is to provide a turnkey presentation that clients don’t have to manage, and one that leaves every listener with more than they expected. I currently have a divers catalogue of over 300 songs covering a wide variety of genres. Unless specifically requested, I play to the crowd at hand and custom tailor each set based on what the client or listening audience responds to best and wants to hear.
Since my first live performance in 1984, I have over 700 documented performances ranging from all types of events including: wedding prelude & reception music, private parties, memorial services, coffee house performances, corporate events, art exhibitions, and all types of downtown venue entertainment.
