What do you love most about your job?

Helping people and dogs understand each other using the sciences of behavioral biology and learning/teaching sciences. And doing this in a way that maximizes joy and cooperation for both human and dog.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have always wanted to balance my time between clients, training my own dogs, learning and devising new techniques and strategies. Creativity needs space and freedom to make my own decisions.

Why should our clients choose you?

In a way, we choose each other. I try to attract people who want not only results but also a rich learning experience. Dogs and people are individuals and when it comes to training, it's definitely not "one size fits all". So our initial chat lets both the client and me know if we are a good fit. My wealth of experience also gives me a huge choice of methods and science to draw upon to individualize the work with your dog. (In other words, I personally wouldn't be a very obedient dog.)

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

In most cases, it has proven not only easy but often even more effective to work online. Since most problem behaviors of adolescent and adult dogs, as well as simple puppy antics, occur in and near the home, remote training allows me to get a really accurate understanding of what owners are experiencing when the dog is in its own territory acting naturally. Often, if distances allow, we can do a combination of virtual and in person meetings. And video allows me to get a better picture of the interaction of dog and family without the influence of a stranger in their midst.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

Lessons are done outside or online. Masks are worn when we need close personal distances for the sake of demonstrating training techniques. For field work at a distance, the rule may be relaxed for a short period of time. I don't ask about vaccines since even vaccinated people can pass on the virus. But I wear a mask when I'm with clients just not to inadvertently be a vector for passing anything around.
