Amazing atmosphere!  Amazing cocktails (try the Blue Goose)!!!  Amazing appetizers!  Fabulous entrees!!!!!  Second to none service! !!!This would clearly be a 5 star review if the bathrooms had been cleaned in the past few days (weeks).......they were in desperate need of attention.  With the attentiveness that the staff at RG Books gives the rest of the meal, you would hope and think that they would want to be a little more finicky to the cleaning aspect as well - it kind of makes you wonder why they keep it so dark in there.....I really, really, really love this place and hope they can get their cleaning crew to step up. Vino's has long been easily the best Italian place in town. R.G. Books next door is great for a drink beforehand, the appetizers and entrees are great, and the desserts are generally fantastic. My biggest objection is that the portions are large enough that saving room for the desserts is hard. This is also one of the only places in (extremely land-locked) Iowa that I've consistently been happy with the fish. This was our first visit and were very impressed. The ambiance and quality of the food was spot on. If you are looking for a great evening with your significant other or business dinner, this should be a top pick for you. We were not disappointed at all. 5 stars for the service, the cocktails, the appetizers, and the main courses!!  After years of wanting to try this place, I finally got the opportunity to. This place was great!!  Cozy atmosphere, warm welcome, and just a sense of privacy. (Maybe that's why we saw Beth Malicki here ‍).  Started with the baked mozzarella. Different than what we expected but was super tasty!!  I got the lasagna, which was huge and very good!!  My date got the 12 oz filet, which was also huge and cooked to perfection!!  We shared the mac & cheese orzo. Once again, fantastic!!  Don't be afraid to order one of their cocktails too. Nice and strong. The Glenlivet pour, at the end of the night, was also spot on. Only downfall is that we had to fight away fruit flies. (Even our waitress batted some away, when she was checking on us). Fantastic experience all around! We ate at Vino's for date night and sat on the RG Book's side. Everything was excellent from the very beginning - great service at the bar while we waited for our table, AMAZING spinach & artichoke dip and both of our pastas were delicious! The price was definitely up there compared to other restaurants but you get what you pay for. We will for sure be back again! The atmosphere and retro vibe was our favorite part! More...

We went to Vino's last night to celebrate Valentine's Day a day late. I am a teacher and had conferences on Valentine's Day, so this seemed like a good day to do it. We made a reservation for 7:30 because we assumed the weekend after Valentine's would be busy. We got there at 7:22 and did not get seated until 7:50. It was a bit unfortunate that our reservation didn't seem to actually reserve us a table on time, mostly because I am very pregnant and sitting on the bar side on a barstool was very hard on my back and puffy feet. Once we were seated, it took about 5-7 minutes for our waitress to acknowledge us at all, and that was our experience through the night. The restaurant was busy, but we often went 10-15 minutes without even seeing our waitress to catch her eye for a refill or to order. She brought us drinks and took an appetizer order and disappeared for a long time. When we wanted to pay and leave, it took a very long time to even get her over and then to get our change back. That being said, the food was amazing. We had bruschetta for an appetizer. My husband got Spicy Penne a la Vodka with chicken and I got Chicken Marsala. Then we had trifle for dessert. Everything was superb. It was a truly delightful meal. We decided 5 stars for food, 3 for service. I would love to go back, but I would be hesitant to make another reservation with how long we waited. More...

Went to celebrate my late Father's birthday, we are originally from NJ, and chicken parmesan was the birthday dinner every year. They did not disappoint. The chicken was tender, juicy, and lightly breaded. The sauce was light, fresh, and on point for an East coast Italian meal. The waitress has been there for 18 years and was quick with drinks from the bar and keeping our 4 year old happy. The atmosphere was intimate, cozy, and perfect for a date night. We ordered the meatballs as well as a side, and they could use a little work. But everything else hit the spot and felt like home. Definitely returning for my birthday dinner Jan 5th. This is how a restaurant should be-nice linens on the table with a subdued noise level as well as good food. The adjacent bar is always nice for a before/after dinner drink or just a separate trip altogether. Our favorite place!
