I can not recommend TrueCare Moving. This June I moved from a house I lived in for 25 years. I bought a new house that was built in 1922 and was completely restored, updated and “turnkey” ready for move in. Perhaps TrueCare would be great for an apartment move, but for a more sophisticated move between two old houses, TrueCare did not care about my belongings or deliver on their promise to do so. When I was researching movers, I knew I wanted to support a local business that employed black and brown people. TrueCare is a newer business in the NE area and seemed like the perfect fit. When I called and talked through the move with the office manager, Eric, I felt very supported and like my moving needs would be handled with care. A few days before the move, I called and spoke to Eric again. I got some questions answered and felt great about my own progress with packing, labelling, and centralizing the boxes for the upcoming move. The day of the move came in June of 2021. I am submitting this review several months later, because I wanted to give TrueCare time to make things that went wrong with the move right. The guys in the moving crew were great, but there were a number of things that were damaged. Someone showed up at the end of the move, who I talked to (I discovered later that this was Tyrell) about a couple of the things, but not all. We agreed we could connect the dots on compensation later, because things felt rushed in that moment. The move was done, the guys were tired, they wanted me to pay and move on to lunch and their next move. The following things happened during my move: • My bed mattress was damaged. A $1400 bed that I bought last year. • My desk was completely broken beyond repair or use. The guys knew about the desk because it literally fell apart in their hands, in front of me, while they were trying to move it. The dresser was old and could have been handled more carefully. • The house I moved out of was built in 1903 and had all original hard wood floors. The house I moved into was built in 1922 and also has all the original hard wood floors. The back entryway in the new house floor was terribly scratched beyond a reasonable costing repair. The movers did not lay down anything to protect the wood floors in the old or the new house. I was told later by Tyrell that “they don’t do this”. • In that same doorway, a metal part of the door threshold was pulled away from the door frame and needs to be replaced. Tyrell saw this and commented “This is a disaster waiting to happen”. It was completely intact prior to the move, no disaster pending. • A one of kind expensive art piece was damaged. They did wrap it, but somehow the frame got gouged and is now ruined. • A vent airflow redirecter was broken and needs to be replaced. • I labeled the packed boxes with the location they were to be moved to in the new house. 12 boxes were not left in the correct spot. (Basement boxes were put in the loft 2 floors up and vis versa) I was even directing the movers as it was going, as the labelling wasn’t being paid much attention to. I had to move several heavy boxes two floors myself. • My bike and a large “cat-town” did not fit in the truck and were left for me to move myself. • The movers arrived at 8:51 and the truck was fully loaded by 1130. When I asked if they were taking a lunch break before unloading it all at the new house, they said no and would power through and get lunch before the next move that was happening after my move. I think they were tired and just not focused on the details, but on finishing the job which wrapped at 2 pm. The next day, which was a Friday, I sent an email to TrueCare outlining the things that were damaged, along with pictures of all items. I asked for someone to call me. No one called. I called on Monday and talked to Tyrell. From the beginning, he minimized or flat out denied every piece of damage that I was explaining had occurred. Did I pay for the $150 insurance that would have covered everything? No. I trusted the movers to do their jobs. I opted for the Released Value - Minimum Coverage insurance, which is free and .60 per pound per article. They can wrap things, which they did. They still did not lay anything down on the floors and things still got damaged. Would the movers have handled things differently if I paid for that insurance? No. Tyrell and I had 3 phone conversations and could not seem to communicate well enough for the betterment of the situation. He was treating me like I was lying about the things that happened and held no room at all for any mistakes that his crew made during my move, despite having seen all the pictures. 2 of the 3 phone calls resulted in him hanging up on me. This move, which was less then 2 miles away, cost me $1500 plus over $400 to buy my own boxes. In our 3rd and final conversation, I requested a $200 refund and Tyrell asked me for my “paypal or venmo” so he could do the refund. I told him he could refund my original payment method, which he said he would do and then he abruptly hung up on me. No refund was sent. Realizing that communicating was not working and that Tyrell was not going to take responsibility for the items that were damaged, I filed a complaint with the MN Attorney’s General office. Tyrell responded in writing to the 1st of 5 letters that were sent to him, with a written letter that lacked detail, or any spelled out any action that he intended to take as far as making this right. Tyrell has completely ignored the other 4 letters that were sent to him from the MN Attorney General’s office. No reply and no refund has been issued. I asked for a $200 refund, which doesn't even scratch the surface on how much I am going to need to pay to get a new desk, get the floor sanded and recoated, fix the door threshold and airflow redirector. get my picture reframed and the time/energy to move my belongings moved. Tyrell directed me several times to "leave a bad review" and I never wanted to do that. I only ever wanted for TrueCare to actually care about my damaged items, take responsibility/ownership for their part in it and issue me a fair refund of $200. More...

I just employed True Care Moving Service for the second time, to move all of my household items and empty out a storage unit when we moved into a new home about 20 miles away. Tyrell was very thoughtful in how he approached the move, giving me two teams/two trucks and discounting the truck/travel costs by 50%, making the final cost very reasonable and competitive.
