My friend referred me to Lori after I had adopted my dog Arlo. She had so many great things to say about her. When I adopted Arlo, I had no idea where to begin. He wasn’t eating or drinking, wouldn’t walk properly on a leash and was chewing on things he shouldn’t. Lori showed up on day 1 and got Arlo to eat his kibble…as training treats! I was shocked. What a difference training with Lori makes! We recently adopted 2 beagles puppies. We've adopted other dogs, but never puppies. We brought home the two most adorable pups, but we had no idea of the chaos that was about to come. Our new babies were like two mini velociraptors showing us that they ran the house. We needed help! Thank goodness we found Lori. Lori came to our home and explained that we needed to establish that we were in charge. The dogs responded quickly and really seemed to enjoy following our lead. I actually met Lori about 6 years ago at Pet Food Express. She walked into the store with her 3 large dogs. She put them in a “down stay” and then proceeded to get what she needed. The dogs did not move until she came back to the register with her purchases and she told them to “break”!
I did not need a trainer at that time but I asked if she had a card.
Flash forward to present and I now have added a puppy. When searching for a trainer to help with both dogs, I came across her name— searched my memory banks and gave her a call. Lori is an absolute God send dog whisperer. Our 5 month old Pomeranian puppy has evolved so much since day she came… literally the same night, he slept through the whole night without a peep. I would have never thought he could learn to sit, stay ect because he was so hyper and anxious all the time. Now he is doing these commands and he has a schedule, which Lori helped us put in place. I am so happy to have found Lori! She has made such a difference in our lives and in the lives of our 2 dogs. My husband and I recently adopted our 4 month old puppy from the shelter and really needed help and guidance with him. Aside from needing help with basic puppy manners, he has very bad separation anxiety. I spoke to Lori on the phone and she was so likable and full of helpful information so I ended up setting up a training session with her. She arrived at our house and within a few minutes of working with our little guy, he was listening to her and doing exactly what she wanted him to do (without any protest). She also started the separation anxiety training with him and it was so surprising that she calmed him down so quickly. I was so impressed and happy because I realized that it is indeed possible to help him. She also spent time with our 7 year old golden retriever who needed some help with walking on the leash. Within a few moments, Lori had her walking properly without pulling. My ultimate goal is to be able to walk both our dogs simultaneously without any pulling, charging, etc.
With both of our dogs, she had me practicing what she was teaching and was correcting me with the techniques as well.
I am so appreciative for all of her help and insight so far. I also like that she is available by text and phone. She even followed up the next morning to see how things went overnight. We adopted our female, Sheperd-mix puppy in mid-December 2022; at the time we brought her home, she had just turned 8-weeks. Although, she was going to be the 3rd dog we adopted, she was going to be the first large breed dog and first puppy we brought home. We knew we would need help and were under the assumption that we could not start training classes until she was at least 3-months. Oops! We learned that we could have started as soon as she came home! As soon as we communicated with Lori, her expertise shined through and our lives improved (yes.. even our 2 older (small breed) dogs. Lori is such a wonderful dog trainer. We found her through the recommendation of another dog trainer who did not have time to train my five month old corgi puppy. Lori was very easy to reach and was so kind. She fit us in for an entire month schedule and worked with our availability as well.

She helped teach me and my dog honey the foundations of becoming a very obedient and loving dog. She gave us exercises on how to train sit stay down come and place.

She is very effective in the way that she teaches and helps truly things so it’s easy to understand for the owner and the dog.

My 2 year old dog has a lot of anxiety and is fearful of many situations (other dogs, loud noises, strangers, etc. ) After working with Lori for just a few weeks, my dog has become much more obedient and calm. Lori Hoffman is an excellent dog trainer! Our little cocker spaniel puppy was just 9 weeks old the first time we met with Lori. Things went great at first…our little “April” learned to come to me when I called her name, sit and lie down at my feet to accept a little kibble reward. A while after the second session, I got discouraged because I couldn’t get April to stop nipping me…and those baby teeth are extremely sharp. I had the bloody hands and arms to show it. But we again got some great help from Lori. After our 3rd lesson I have new ways to play with April (ball play), new ways to play (hiding the kibble, and I can even walk her in a “heal” position (just in our own driveway) and she stops when I do. We have two one year old dachshunds, and after realizing I was in no way capable of training them by myself, I reached out to Lori. She came out the following day, and I was so happy with our first session. We discussed the dogs’ issues, and she got right to work showing me what to do. And within a week, our dogs had improved so much! They stopped barking when people entered our house, and they began to understand that I was the pack leader (not them). I inherited two small senior dogs when my girlfriend moved in with me. They're both around 16 years old and one of them is nice and calm most of the times but the other one was a terror. He weighs about 16 pounds but thinks he's 160 pounds when there are other dogs around. When we took him for a walk it was more like he walked us. He pulled so hard all the time no matter what I tried. He barks at every dog that was within 30 feet of him. I now live in Sherman Oaks where a lot of people walk their dogs so I hated taking him for walks in fear of how he is going to behave around other dogs. This is where we decided to give Lori a try.
Oh my god after one session he became a different dog. I thought I knew what I was doing when I was trying to train him but this is where a real professional makes a huge difference. Literally in a couple of hours of training my dog was a different animal.
That saying that "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" didn't apply here. Lori is proof that you can teach a dog anything with the right trainer and training. My old dog has learned so many things and is so well behaved now that I'm really enjoying him.

I reached out to Lori in desperation trying to find a trainer for my 16 month old pup as we were having issues with him trying to bite when you put a leash on him or picked it up. This was from a trauma he experienced some months ago and I hadn’t been able to leash him since without him trying to bite so we gave up. Although she said aggression work is no longer part of her services offered she felt sorry for me and my pup and gave me multiple exercises to start doing to desensitize him to the leash at a low level until I could get one who specifically does aggression work onboard to help us. She talked to me for a little over an hour out of the goodness of her heart! Not too many trainers I know of would do that, she is very compassionate and caring of both you and your dog. The best part is that her suggestions started to help make some progress with him. I have now found someone and it turns out it was Lori’s training mentor! I recently got a pull named Sky that was not very well trained at going to the bathroom outside. Working with Lori to my surprise we were able to train him on going to the bathroom outside, sitting, down, staying and playing fetch and walking on leash all in 3 sessions and decided to keep working with her to train him on all sorts of other obedience tactics.
