My partner and I ordered takeout last night ! He got the mac n cheese burger and fries, I got the BBQ mahi tacos with chips. The online ordering was a little confusing as it didn't really state what the entrees side was. We ended up ordering extra fries just in case. The food was on the pricey side for what we got. The BBQ mahi tacos came with two tacos. I thought they were excellent. They would definitely have been better fresh, I think. The sauce on them was very flavorful. My partner said his burger was good, but would have also been better fresh. The sauce that came with the fries was a real winner ! Little to no COVID guidance following. It is a seat yourself restaurant so we sat ourselves outside, waited 20min to try and flag down a waitress to clear the table. 10 min after a waitress said she would get another waitress and we were then informed that they would not serve us food outside. Excellent venue conveniently located on Massachusetts Ave with stellar bar food and lots of beer on tap. Sauce connoisseurs will love the wide array of aioli and sauce. Tap fries come with tasty pesto sauce, beer cheese, chipotle aioli, and garlic aioli. Fries are crispy and lightly seasoned with assorted herbs and Cajun seasoning! Outdoor seating is accompanied with futons, cushioned seating, and outdoor heating! The inside has a modern bar and brewery feel! Can't go wrong here. The Tap offers an assortment of craft beers, cocktails, and food options. Perfect for a Friday/Saturday night get together with live music as well. Let's just start with the fries. The tap fries (with the garlic aioli) are life changing! If you order them as an appetizer it comes with a few different sauces but you can also just get them as a side with your food and add the sauces individually. The firecracker shrimp is by far the best appetizer. Think "bang-bang shrimp" from Bonefish but almost better. All of their burgers and sandwiches are good, but my favorite is the beer cheese steak sandwich. It is basically a philly smothered in their beer cheese (). After visiting The Tap a few times, I can definitely say this is one of my favorite restaurants downtown! I have tried a few different meal options and have been pleasantly surprised each time- my favorite is the bbq pulled pork pizza. The Tap also has an extensive list of beers to choose from, although I don't personally drink beer, every time someone at my table orders one they have not been disappointed. We ordered carry out and enjoyed drinks and pretzels while we waited. The sliders with Brie and bacon jam were perfect. The avocado burger was a hit as was the beef sandwich. This is by far one of my favorite places to get a burger. I've tried the beer cheese burger and the Mac and cheese burger which were both utterly AMAZING. the fries (let me tell you) are TO DIE FOR. so good!! and the sauce, Parmesany goodness is the perfect pair to make you think "ketchup who?"I usually go for a whiskey and ginger ale mix but I know they have a wide variety of beers and some wines too. I come here pretty regularly because my friend lives in the apartment complex directly above it. I really enjoy their seasonal specials. I've never had anything hear that I didn't like and I mix it up pretty often. The cranberry club is great, the loaded tots are an awesome appetizer, when in season the sweet potato fries are just fantastic. I am also a big fan of how large their draft list is. They have a good assortment of of specialty drafts and local stuff. I have come here for trivia too which is a lot of fun. They also do a great devour deal when it's that time of year. The tap was awesome! I would get brunch anywhere else! I went here with one of my best friends and we both got bloody Mary's and I also ordered a breakfast bowl. The Bloody Mary was the best I've ever had and the breakfast bowl was up in quality and taste as well! Do not be fooled by the size of the bowl because there was a lot of food! Back in September, a group of friends and I went downtown Indianapolis for a first time trip to The Tap. Despite there being quite a few of us and taking into consideration it was a weekend night, our group was seated very quickly by their friendly staff. Our waitress greeted us quickly as we arrived getting us waters and answering ay questions about top pick beers and specialty drinks. After all of us ordered, we were able to sit and chat comfortably outside while waiting for our orders to arrive. When it comes to the state of our world, the dining experience at The Tap feels safe and clean. The restaurant is able to hold its many regular guests while still maintaining social distancing guidelines. If this is a concern for you, you can rest easy here! It took a bit for our food to get to our table, however, it was a busy night that Friday so that may have been the reason. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a Moscow Mule, both delicious and well made! The prices were a bit higher for a college student but that's expected when eating downtown. I would definitely argue the cost is worth the drinks and food. Overall, this restaurant is a great place to gather and eat with friends, especially before a night out in downtown Indy. I recommend if you're thinking of visiting to pick a time and day that may not be as busy. I'm not a beer girl, but if you are you'll love it even more (hence The Tap)! (: More...

If you're planning to come in for a beer, The Tap is one of the better spots in the area in terms of variety and quality on tap. They offer sidewalk tables as well as distanced indoor seating. One of my favorites on mass ave. The fries are to die for!! I think about them constantly. The sliders are also amazing (if you need something more than fries). We also love coming here for drinks! They are constantly rotating their selection, but the servers do a great job recommending drinks. Whenever I am overwhelmed with choices, the servers will ask what I usually like and bring me 3 different drinks to try, of which I can choose my favorite. I am so glad there is The Tap in Bloomington and Indy. I haven't had a bad dish from here. The pulled pork chips were amazing. The Social beer and Beardliner are both great. The Tap is and always has been the best kept secret of Mass Ave. It's never  so crowded you can't get a table. The service is impeccable. They have lots of tap options (the blueberry beer is always my favorite), but always have Sangria, ciderss, and other gluten free options available as well. So I have a lot of mixed feelings about the Tap, even though I frequent this place quite often during the summer. Some things are awesome and some leave much to be desired. The good:- Gorgeous patio - easily one of the best on Mass Ave- Convenient location and hours - I swear they are always open- Great house beer - Nefarious Nectar will put you under the table- Tasty apps - tap fries are the best thing on the menuThe not-so-great:- Inconsistent service - Really average entrees- Hate the backless stools inside (ok, this is nit-picky but I feel strongly about it)Give it a go for a chill "beer-and-apps" outing but don't expect a five-star dining experience. I've been a fan of the tap since I was a college student at Indiana university. I've transferred my loyalty to the restaurant to the Indianapolis location since I now live in the Indy area. Every time I get the grilled cheese and tap fries. The grilled cheese is by far the best grilled cheese I've had in my entire life. they use five different cheese and they are always melted to perfection. I've been coming to the Tap now for about 3 years! If you're a sports fan the inside is a perfect location as it's full of TVs. The outdoor patio is personally my favorite space with umbrellas and a big fire pit.They have a diverse menu of appetizers (I recommend the tap fries with 4 dipping sauces), salads, tacos and sandwiches and pizzas. Personally I LOVE the ahi tuna salad with the cucumber wasabi dressings. I love salads and it's hard to find a really good salad out. This is always my go to meal there! If you love beer i'd recommend checking one of their brewed beers. If you are like me and don't prefer beer they also have wine and a full bar. First off michelle was a great waitress. Unfortunately the manager ruined this experience.  Michelle came to the table and said last call can I get you anything.  We all ordered drinks to go .. she came back 5 mins later and said she was sorry she can only do beer .. we ordered beer to go.  3 mins later the manager came to our table and said we couldn't have any drinks  Michelle came back 2 mins later and said that the manager told her we couldn't have any more drinks they were done serving.  We were already leaving.  Why would a place turn down money?  I own a small business and would never turn away money. If my manager did that I would fire him on the spot.  Especially in these times we need every dime we can get.
