For 25+ years, Julie has been our go-to trainer. She is well versed in a wide range of animal behaviors such that she always has a technique that helps correct or enhances your relationship with your dog. We have Certified all of our dogs with the assistance of Julie’s expertise.
She collaborates with Vet offices for safe environment puppy training to start that critical socialization early. She can advise on some of the toughest rescue dog behaviors such as fearful and reactive dogs. She trains well-adjusted dogs to challenge themselves for Therapy work. She is familiar with medicine if needed.
She always has the answer you are looking for and keeps you accountable for implementing her advice.

I have know Julie for over 20 years. She is an amazing trainer with all animals. Seriously, ducks , goats, horses, dogs, you name it. Personally she worked for me in the horse industry and was an amazing rider trainer, and instructor. Julie has helped me with many rescue dogs that did not have a good bringing up and some were even abused. Julie came into my home gave me exercises, tools, and proper equipment and behold perfect dogs. I’m not sure anyone could find a better dog and animal trainer. Her straightforward and common sense approach (and her sense of humor) make her classes a pleasure to take. Our rescue has worked with Julie for the last 5 years. She has helped many dogs needing that extra help to become adoptable. Julie is not just a trainer but a very knowledgeable dog behaviorist. She knows how to read and assess their behavioral issues and formulate the best plan to work with them. I would highly reccomended the Excellent canine. For one, the amount of experience and knowledge Julie has in animal behavior, operant conditioning, socializing and medical care ensures I am getting quality for my pet. I know how much education and continued professional development she puts into her work. She has made this a life long career and she is superb!!
But also, my pet has fun at the ranch! My dog is active and grouped accordingly to ensure my pet is safe, comfortable and happy. I never have to worry when my dog is in the hands of the excellent canine.
Policies are clear, registration easy, and communication is efficient. I always feel like I get the attention and reassurance I need.

Julie saved us! We were fresh home from the hospital with our newborn and our 9 month old puppy was out of control! We put her in Julie’s “Board and Train” program for 2 weeks; our dog came home well behaved, trained, and with a whole binder of commands. Not only that, but Julie taught us how to continue the training at home and even did some follow-up sessions.
We were so happy! Our dog is seven now and she still gets SO EXCITED whenever we pull up to The Dog Ranch for boarding. I highly recommend! More...

My Husky has been with Julie and The Excellent Canine fam for 14 years. We met during a Puppy training class Julie was teaching and started going for daycare to social her with other dogs. That led to boarding whenever we go on vacations where I know she's always been cared for, had tons of fun, and been very safe. Julie is amazing with animals. She has many training techniques to teach both the pups and the parents, and is super aware of the dogs' quirks and triggers, which helps keep them all inline and behaving appropriately. We are so thankful for Julie and we credit her training to the harmony we have in our home with our three high energy dogs. Our dogs have done her board and train program, and I have attended her puppy obedience classes and I’ve never seen her phased by any behavior. She can handle it all! One of our German Shorthaired Pointers was particularly stubborn and seemed to have no desire to please, yet with Julie’s persistence and patience, she was able to help her become a well mannered and obedient dog. I love that she’s firm with the dogs, but always kind and gentle. She’s also trained us to be the dogs’ handlers which is key.
