10/10 recommend The Dog Wizard! Kurtis was so knowledgeable in chatting with us about our blue heeler pup, Benny, and what type of training would be best. Gabby was incredible with in-home training and our final training session at Home Depot! They also watched our pup for 3 nights and worked on training with him during that time. We knew he was in great hands! There is a noticeable difference in Benny’s behavior and we are so grateful to The Dog Wizard for helping us learn how to best train our pup! More...

Our 1.5 year old dog Edgar was a handful. Thanks to the Dog Wizard and our trainer Alex for giving our family the tools to get control of our house back! Edgar will listen to commands and actually take a walk without constantly pulling on the leash. The support from the trainer after Ed was done with the program has been so important and helpful to keep us from falling back into old habits! More...

Gina helped me control my 8 yr old dog's nervous, over-reactive interactions with other dogs. She was so knowledgable and patient teaching me how to properly and successfully use an e-collar. My pup actually comes running to me when he sees it, excited that he's going out. I can let him run at the off leash park now without worrying that he'll get himself into trouble. I know that he'll come when I call, often w/o the e-collar's assistance; but it's there if I need it. Our walks are now fun and relaxed! More...

The Dog Wizard did an excellent job with our pup! Jamie took our pup, Augie, on his learning journey and helped him discover how to respond when called, how to sit without being antsy, and overall how to have more self confidence and just to be comfortable. We loved that Jamie shared images and videos throughout the journey. Her methods were effective and the time she spent with us to teach us what to do were very beneficial. They have our highest recommendation for the tremendous job they did. More...

Leave off the aversive "training" devices by learning about dogs and how they learn, and understand how to read dog body language and Calming signals which you obviously do not know about if you are using those aversive devices.

The worst! Trainers use, shock, collars, and fear for training. My Bloodhound once saw the trainer at a shop and actually got physically sick! The worst thing I ever did was take my blood hound to the Dog Wizard! Please do not use them ever ! They say lifetime guaranteed if you need them later for walks and parks, that never happened, every time I would try to ask them about meeting with other dogs to walk, etc. they said we don’t have any at this time to do that. So their advertising policy is definitely wrong. They will not give you support in the future. More...

Bentley and I trained with The Dog Wizard in Frankfort Kentucky. I am extremely appreciative of the Puppy Program!! We both learned so much, from how to properly take care and train my baby to great obedience skills. Our trainer’s Andrea, Steve and Sydney answered any questions I had regarding any form of training, grooming, playtime, etc. I am a new dog mom so all of this was extremely helpful for us! (Commands like sit and place created some great photo ops as well 😂) More...

The dog wizard training program was an overall phenomenal experience for our family and our Belgian Malinois Banshee. They communicated through the board and train as often as we asked them too. They did everything our dog needed to become a well mannered even keeled dog and that’s no easy task with Malinois and we couldn’t be happier with the overall results. They also have great events for the dogs to hang out and play about once a month and they also provide lifetime support and support classes monthly. We interviewed a few different trainers and I’m absolutely positive we picked the right people to train our dog More...

I was watching the classes from another dog park (we were at a competition and rented out the space). At first, the class seemed like it was a great neutrality class for reactive dogs as they were outside the dog park working on sitting at a good distance away from each other. I spoke too soon unfortunately. They had rented out the dog park space next to us and let the dogs of all sizes off leash. The class size was HUGE for the one or two trainers there. Just as expected, things went south real fast. Dogs were getting bullied, dogs were cowering, there was a lot of yelping from fearful dogs feeling cornered, etc. It was a nightmare and I got so much anxiety watching this disaster of a class. Even our dogs were distracted by the circus going on next door. Some people even ended up leaving the class, most likely because their dogs were out of control. Fair, but why were any of these reactive or otherwise fearful dogs offleash to begin with? There was even a muzzled dog in there, which is a recipe for disaster. An insecure dog wearing a muzzle in a dog park full of dogs without one? What could possibly go wrong, right? Instead of teaching dogs neutrality and setting them up for success, they did quite the opposite. If you want your dog to BECOME reactive, this is the perfect class for that. Seriously. It’s no different from a dog park, with the exception that this would be one that you pay for. Dog parks are frowned upon for a reason— one of those reasons being that they increase the likelihood of your dog developing reactivity because their boundaries are not being respected. Flooding a fearful dog is not going to help them. No learning is being done when a dog is over threshold. In this “class”, there were mixed sizes of dogs, from a teeny yorkie to large german shepherds. Their methods included squirting dogs in the face with water and shaking water bottles with rocks in them to spook them. No actual training was going on, just amateur interference from the “trainers” when scuffles took place. Pretty much no different than a doggy daycare. We were there from 8 am to 12 pm., which tells you pretty much all you need to know. They had four hours to change my mind. It was a whole lot of nothing except chaos. Please don’t take their reactivity classes. I can’t speak on how they work on other cases, but I saw all I needed to see. From the structure of the class, their lack of knowledge on canine body language and behavior, and ethics (or lack thereof)… I was appalled. Their explanations to their clients were absolutely ridiculous. Even their clients were watching in awe as our dogs coexisted with each other. I felt awful for them because I even had a few of them asking me how they could achieve this. For them to go to help from strangers instead of the trainers they paid says a lot about how well they trusted their skills. It’s a shame, really. I’m always happy to find new trainers in Vegas and The Dog Wizard is definitely making my “places to avoid” list. I sincerely hope this makes them take a step back a reevaluate their methods and choose more appropriate class sizes, among other things. More...
