Shannel at Superior Training is a wonderful personal trainer. She tailors her coaching and exercise plan to your needs, making sure to keep you motivated with positive reinforcement. I don’t enjoy working out, but Shannel made the process fun. Most days the time seemed to fly by. Not only does she use a tailored approach in her coaching, she also uses both distraction and mindfulness techniques to keep you engaged in a particular exercise. She is dependable and punctual. If you are in need of a personal trainer, I didn’t think you can find a better one than Shannel. More...

The owners of the gym, Nate and Shannel are both so friendly are truly make you feel at home and not at an old dingy gym. Hiring a trainer definitely isn't something I wanted to do, but I know for my health I needed to and I am so glad that I did . Nate is so knowledgeable and is an excellent communicator. I trained with him for 6 years, and only stopped because I had to move. I highly recommend him and his sweet wife! More...

5 Stars – Highly Recommend!
I have been training with Nate for over four years, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience.
One of the things I appreciate most is that when you schedule an appointment, the studio is entirely yours—no waiting on equipment or distractions from other gym-goers.
Nate’s guidance and encouragement have not only helped me achieve my original fitness goals but have pushed me beyond what I ever thought was possible. His personalized approach, expertise, and dedication make every session productive and motivating. I highly recommend training with Nate to anyone looking for real results in a focused and supportive environment!

Nate has been training me since 2021, and I'm probably the healthiest I've ever been. Not only are my training sessions tailored to my needs, but he also gives nutritional advice and helps me deal with some of my chronic aches and pains. Highly recommended!

I was initially skeptical about hiring a personal trainer but Nate put those worries to rest immediately. This personal training set up is perfect for me, it's a small space with all of the equipment that I need to get a full body workout in. I don't like crowds, and I love that it is only me and the trainer in the studio during my session. His attention is always on me and he makes sure that I use good form. His prices are very reasonable and he tries to be as accommodating as he can with his busy schedule. I would highly recommend Nate and will look to train with him again if I ever move back to Kentucky. More...
How important is a healthy diet to someone’s health and wellbeing?
A healthy diet is extremely important for someone's health and wellbeing. Here's why:
Nutritional Needs: A balanced diet provides essential nutrients like vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats, and carbohydrates that are necessary for the body's maintenance, growth, and repair. Deficiencies in these nutrients can lead to various health issues, from anemia (due to lack of iron) to scurvy (from vitamin C deficiency).
Disease Prevention:
Chronic Diseases: Diets high in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins while low in processed foods, sugars, and saturated fats can help prevent chronic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers.
Obesity: Proper diet control helps manage weight, reducing the risk of obesity which is linked to numerous health problems.
Mental Health: There's a strong connection between diet and mental health:
Brain Function: Nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and B vitamins are crucial for cognitive function and mood regulation.
Mood Disorders: Diets lacking in essential nutrients or high in processed foods can increase the risk of depression and anxiety.
Energy Levels: A diet rich in complex carbohydrates, proteins, and healthy fats provides sustained energy, reducing fatigue and enhancing physical activity levels.
Immune System Support: A balanced intake of nutrients like vitamins A, C, D, E, zinc, and selenium bolsters the immune system, helping the body fight off infections and diseases.
Longevity and Quality of Life: Long-term, a healthy diet can contribute to a longer lifespan and better quality of life in later years by preventing or delaying the onset of age-related diseases.
Digestive Health: Fiber from whole foods aids digestion, prevents constipation, and supports a healthy gut microbiome, which is linked to broader health benefits including immune function.
Skin, Hair, and Bone Health: Nutrients like vitamin D, calcium, and collagen-supporting vitamins influence skin health, hair growth, and bone density.
Sleep Quality: Certain foods can influence sleep patterns. For instance, foods high in tryptophan (like turkey or dairy) can promote better sleep through the production of serotonin and melatonin.
Social and Psychological Well-being: Eating well can also have social benefits, fostering community through shared meals, and psychologically, the act of preparing and eating nutritious food can be rewarding and confidence-boosting.
In summary, a healthy diet is not just about avoiding illness but actively contributing to overall health, vitality, and mental well-being. It's foundational for a robust, active, and fulfilling life.
