I just want to say THANK YOU so much to stylist Terry!!!! I have been looking like crazy for someone to fix my hair and praying I could find someone good last minute and my prayers were answered! ! not only did they get me in right away she slayed my hair to beyond expectations. She knows how to work with thick hair and she was such a pleasure to talk to I swear the time I was there just flew by!! Sooooooo...OMG! The best color I've ever had in my 65 years of life. First, the salon is great. Love the set up. Super calm and relaxing. Gorgeous view! Products are fabulous! Second, Terri is my new go-to hairstylist! I had a color, highlight, and keratin treatment from Terri. I let Terri guide me on color and she is spot on! I get compliments every day. I came to this Salon to get a much needed hair cut. I have been ill for a while so I needed it cleaned up. I read the reviews and thought this would be a good choice, it was ok, the hair was ok, but I went home thinking about the extra $18. 00 I paid because they said I had thick hair, I am an 80 year old woman with chin length hair, I have had the same hair all my life and was never asked to pay extra because it twas thick. My hair is NOT THAT THICK. I blow dry it myself in less than 10minutes.Yes, they asked me this after I was in the chair wet and getting cut, "was it ok to charge an extra $18.00 because my hair was thick"? I ended paying 96 dollars plus tip for a haircut Total $114+. I should have skipped the tip, she already had one charging mw the extra $18.I don't know if this a new scam hairdressers are using to make up the lost deficit of covid loss business, but they should stop it! I was visiting Palm Springs and stumbled upon this place thanks to Yelp. I got a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. Being from chicago I thought the prices were fair. The place was clean, welcoming and responsive (not many spas/salons respond to emails!). Maribel did my nails and she was absolutely wonderful- I highly recommend her. I recently had my hair colored and trimmed by a Mark. I wanted my hair lightened. He took lots of care administering the foils and managing the process. I opted to not have the toner. My choice. He didn't push it. He didn't try to do any upsell. Mark made me relaxed in the chair with as much or as little conversation as I wanted. He is very pleasant. The service at Studio M Salon in Palms Springs is FABULOUS! From the concierge to my hair stylist, they were friendly, extremely helpful and sweet. And the location is stunning! The wonderful lady who worked on my hair PRICILLA was amazing. I was going for a specific look and she was honest and eager to make it a reality. My hairstyle came out BEAUTIFULLY! Mark at Studio M is AMAZING!!! I have had the same person do my hair for over 20 years, and when she was not available, I didn't know what to do. I started looking for salons and found Studio M. Happily Mark was my stylist, and I am a believer. Not only is he highly skilled, gentle and kind, but until he colored and styled my hair, I had never let anyone blow dry my hair as I always went home and redid it myself. Mark simply said trust me. Wow!!! He did an amazing job and I loved what he did, and he showed me how to do it myself. My son needed a haircut and I brought him to Mark and he too loved how Mark cut and styled his hair. I didn't stop there. My granddaughter who is 12 and here for the holidays, needed a trim. Mark not only trimmed her hair, he styled it just like the photo she showed him, and he in turn showed her how to create the same style herself. Ever since we got home, she has been practicing and styling it just like he showed her. I saw Mark at Studio M and I am so glad I did. Mark was very friendly and easy to talk to. I came in needing a trim and wanted to get some highlights as well, and he greatly exceeded my expectations. I am currently in a grow-out phase with my hair and he was knowledgeable about how it should be cut so that it grows into the next stage perfectly. I also struggle with some scalp issues and he was able to give me a lot of advice about how to care for things moving forward. I ended up not going since they insist on giving a credit card over the phone. Fraud is alive and well so no thank you. You should tell your customers up front instead of spending 15 minutes going over everything else. Besides, many people prefer cash. A few Salons have been charging the credit card fees to the customer so I try to remember to go to the ATM prior to my appointments & my Bank happens to be across the parking lot from you. I had put a request in for the high end pedicure with Lauren as I read she was excellent. I could walk to this place from where I live so I thought I'd give it a try. The lady on the phone when I called back didn't seem to know the pricing. I wanted to verify since online websites tend to be outdated after COVID. I also wanted to verify the 60 minute pedicure and what it included and add extra foot massage. It's a shame because I have a regular lady in Orange County that I've gone to for 20 years but I'm not going to drive to OC just to get my nails done. I'm trying another place in Palm Desert that came highly recommended. I would try this place if they didn't require a CC just to "hold" an appointment. The two stars are because of Debbie who graciously came in on a holiday and was very accommodating (excepting she failed to deliver a key bit of information prior to my arrival . .. see below). Otherwise this would've surely been a one star given the time and energy that was wasted due to lack of professional courtesy and communication.Debbie graciously rescheduled a waxing that initially had been requested but was no longer needed 2 days later.She's already apologized for:Without forewarning they changed my service from a male masseuse to female; so after driving out for the anticipated session, was told someone I didn't request have been substituted in.Actually I discovered this myself, by spotting a woman pacing back-and-forth anxiously to my left... and when I asked where the male therapist was, after literally standing there for 10 minutes chitchatting with Debbie, she admits that the person that I'd been booked with isn't coming in - so they have a female for me. Debbie decided not to communicate this despite several communications prior that day.Tho obviously she must've known at least an hour prior because she would've had to book in the female instead on a holiday last minute - so all of this went on without Debbie ones having the common sense to contact me to ask if I would like a female even though I specifically requested a male masseuse. The whole thing was just really absurd...Spoke with the female therapist (a tall woman with gray hair) about what I was looking for and why male technicians were generally a good fit.Apparently despite her years, this woman doesn't know herself well, as she insisted that she would like to move forward with the session; yet after having me go thru ALL the motions of undressing and getting settled on table, at the first common-sense request (she literally was leaning over me pressing down on my skull with her body to get to my shoulders- NOT professional) - she defensively snaps "You know what, I'm not going to do this."This was literally after a 5-10 minute conversation with me sharing what I was hoping for, and she had every chance to back out prior- BUT she waited until I was undressed and on the table to realize that she was not experienced enough to do the work properly (in all my years getting massage, never had a therapist lean on me hard with their chest on my head so I couldn't breathe!). And the fact that other clients let her get away with this is absurd. The neck is one of the most fragile parts of the body - and she literally was leaning on my skull pressing my face into the headrest with the weight of her body.But apparently me asking her not to put her body weight on my skull so I could breathe was not an acceptable request, and she bailed within 2 minutes of the session, then hid, so Debbie had to apologize FOR her.Communication clearly is not strong overall at this business - everyone had ample opportunity to make better decisions, and decided to not communicate, then let things get worse.Would've been so much better for all had Debbie called prior to the service and admitted they didn't have a male therapist as promised, so we would've had the opportunity to save all that time and energy of an unsatisfactory experience.And it would've been so much better had the female masseuse known herself well enough to know that she was not a good fit for somebody who has experienced good deep tissue massages. Again: we had a whole conversation leading up to her then deciding to back out due to inexperience - once I was already on the table.Since Debbie is the manager and she's well aware of all of these challenges, there's really nothing more to discuss. Nothing was charged, they lost the business, and I was lucky to book in at Palm Mountain Resort for a massage a few hours laterThe business owner Jarrod seems to be very caring as he's left this up on his yelp profile. Before i never saw the benefit of a relaxing facial, until Quinci did her hand dance for a facial massage. Not only was it relaxing, but i could see and feel the difference in my skin. Well i just had a facial after having an amazing massage a week ago. I had the most Amazing facial with Julia who also appears to have magic hands as well.
