After more than a year with PHP, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you as I transition to my next chapter focused on weightlifting and training for a half marathon. I originally joined PHP for one reason: to rehabilitate a torn rotator cuff.When I started, I had significant loss of range of motion in my right shoulder. Sleeping on that side was painful. Simple movements became frustrating, and I wasn’t sure how much function I would ever get back.From day one, the trainers approached my recovery differently than any gym experience I’ve had before.Each month they developed two customized one-hour workout sessions done weekly specifically designed to improve range of motion, strength, flexibility, and restore symmetry across both sides of my body. They also provided additional optional workouts if I finished early. When my body did not respond as expected, they adapted and modified exercises based on my actual condition rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all program.At 66 years old and someone who has been working out since high school while playing multiple sports, I’m not new to gyms or fitness programs.PHP is unlike any gym I’ve experienced.What stood out immediately was the depth of trainer expertise in body physiology, movement mechanics, and kinesiology. Many of the coaches have undergraduate and graduate degrees in kinesiology, and you can see that knowledge directly reflected in the quality of programming and the results members achieve.But expertise alone isn’t what makes this place special.What kept me coming back was something that sounds simple—but isn’t: the culture.Every workout is met with encouragement, positivity, and genuine attention. Trainers are present, engaged, and invested in helping members succeed regardless of age, ability, or starting point. Worth every penny.I had the fortune of being a member of PHP for about a year and 8 months.Over the course of my time I lost 12% body fat, while gaining 12 lb of muscle. In total, it amounted to about 6-7” of waistline shedded. I more than doubled—or tripled—the effective weight in nearly all of my exercises. As a US ARMY Vet. I sustained some injuries while serving in during Desert Storm & Bosnia. I transition out from active duty and became a full-time student and government employee. I am so happy with my experience with PHP. I started here at my 5th month of postpartum and now I am at the 10th month postpartum. I can't describe how much I have improved in so many ways in life, and I am extremely thankful for Coach Chris! He set me up for success for my healing journey in postpartum recovery, in establishing a healthy life habit, in getting stronger, and being happier with myself by losing weights/gaining muscle/lowering body fat. I started participating in the group classes offered to the Murrieta Hot Springs Resort & Spa members by trainers from PHP. Each of the trainers are professional and knowledgeable. Coach Maria's Monday classes really start my week off in the right direction. Her Thursday classes are great for recovery and resetting. This place is amazing in every way. I am a 64 year old that spent too many years at a desk without a fitness program. I had hip, knee, low back and shoulder pain. The custom plan they made for me increased my range of motion and strengthened all my muscles. I am now able to execute a complete body workout without pain or limitation. The staff are experts and are constantly refining my program and my technique. Whether you are a high school athlete, pro athlete, a newby, or someone that just wants to get back in shape they will help you! The whole team at PHP is great. I went to them to rehab my knee after surgery and to get back into shape to start playing tennis again. I didn't know I needed what they offered. I just thought I would get back to the gym, lift some weights, do some cardio and like magic, I would be good as new. But, after the result from the functional movement screening, it revealed the imbalances that probably contributed to my injury. All the coaches are great, and have their "thing". How important is a healthy diet to someone’s health and wellbeing?
A healthy diet is imperative. You can't out exercise a bad diet. There are many ways to find something beneficial, yet practical for each client. That is what we focus on. Personalizing dietary needs and goals based on each person's situation and lifestyle.
How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?
We use a methodical, systematic approach that assesses each client to determine what their body needs the most to succeed. Our education level allows us to look into the details of each person's anatomy and physiology. We use this knowledge to help people reach their goals quickly and safely.
What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?
Consistency. Perseverance. Consistency. Perseverance... and a scientifically valid way of training to assure results.
What do you love most about your job?
There are two things that we enjoy about our work more than any other.
First, is the complexity and uniqueness of each person's individual situation. We love the challenge of evaluating each person's past history, current situation, and future goals internally and on the surface. By delving deep into the client's situation we can identify the most important issues to attend to. Then we can truly create personalized, efficient exercise and nutrition recommendations specifically for that one person.
Secondly, we love the reward of seeing people progress towards and reach their goals. Nothing is more motivating than results. This goes for the client and for us as well. When people see results from their hard work they gain even more momentum to keep moving forward. When we see clients light up because they are meeting and surpassing their goals, it increases our energy and passion for helping them. That cycle is amazing fuel!
What inspired you to start your own business?
Necessity. I worked for other fitness facilities and saw a lot of areas for improvement beyond just making money. Some of these areas that we strive to be especially strong in are:
- Education requirement for our team - Bachelors in Exercise Science at a minimum. 5 of us have Master's degrees
- Truly caring for our clients - Our company policies show time and time again that we care about our relationship with our clients above all else
- Teamwork - We truly work as a team so many of our clients essentially get 2-4 trainers for the price of 1.

Private 1-on-1 Training
The premium fitness training service. Undivided attention, maximally productive, and more than just a fitness training session. Great for anyone, but most important for those who have special circumstances such as pre-existing injury or health risks, those uncomfortable in a gym, or just new to fitness.
Semi-Private Training
This is personal training in a small group setting. While it's about 90% of the private training service it's only 50% of the price. Excellent value for youth athletes and those with no major health issues or major injuries.
