Phil was the perfect choice, his quick response time, willingness to chat about the finer details, and ability to provide suggestions when I needed help was extremely appreciated! His preparedness and wry sense of humor had me feeling confident leading up to my proposal, and that continued into the photoshoot as well. -Phil was very responsive to messages in timely manner. He was right on time on the day of the event. -I appreciated him not charging us traffic and mileage fee. Maybe that was because he could get horse racing shots at our event to showcase in his sports gallery.. -The quality of work could have been a bit better. Pictures came out well. However, a lot of pictures had extra space around the object of interest than we’d have liked. -He kept saying the sun is interfering..but isn’t that why in the age of iphone16 you still hire a professional photographer ?? -Some photographers do a great job of engaging people and getting creative pics- not Phil. I would not recommend him for events where you want them good pics with kids/teens. -He might be better with orchestrated events vs ‘go with the flow’ type of events. Our wedding photos are so beautiful!!!! Phil did an amazing job, I'm so thankful! I can't believe how incredible the outside photos came out. It was so bright outside in the direct sunlight, and yet the photos are just stunning. Phil really has a talent! And I'm in love with the black and white photos he took! I originally only wanted colored photos, which he said if he did any black and white, it would would be for fun with the photo in color also available. I had no idea how much I would really enjoy the black and white photos, especially of this one with the light coming through as my husband (almost typed fiance lol) and I are standing next to each other. Phil was an absolute gem to work with! I'm based in Ohio and needed a photographer to take some headshots of an employee based in Washington. This was a major time-crunched project with a 6/1 deadline and I frantically searched for a photographer the week before Memorial Day Weekend. Phil's prices were reasonable and well within my company budget, he had great reviews and his work was beautiful. I reached out explaining what all was needed and when we needed the done. He responded almost immediately and was more than accommodating and easily accessible. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Light. It's all about light (except for all of it that isn't!) There's posing, location and critically, a strong eye for composition. There's a hundred more aspects, of course but I guess those are the main ones. Oh, also, you have to be willing to go the extra mile and not settle for 'good enough'.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What are you looking to achieve? Do you have a location or style of location in mind? Can you find some images online that inspire you and would help to point us in the right direction when we shoot?
What do you love most about your job?
Creativity. Helping people to show their best side and gain something they will love and cherish forever.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I wanted to be my own boss and provide a great service. The idea of being able to make a living doing what I LOVE fills me with joy every day.
