If you're considering going anywhere else to train your dog, dont. My 1 yr 8 month old pit mix, Ringo, had pretty extreme reactivity to men, dogs, cats, Mail people, screaming kids. Anything with a pulse, really. We had been through numerous trainers and spent hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars. After 6 months of different training, limited progress, and both of our qualities of life becoming impaired - we needed to pivot and immediately. I was referred to MOC K9 by a friend with a similar story. Showing up on Day 1, Ringo was extremely reactive towards Mitch and Adam. 5 weeks in and I have a completely different dog. Basic obedience, nailed. Constant barking, gone. I walk him around our bustling neighborhood all the time, leave him in a sit or down somewhere and he won't budge. I get constant comments on his stellar behavior. Little did they know about 1 month ago we potentially had some very serious decisions to make. We brought our one year old Doberman to MOC K-9 for a 4 week board and train. We didn’t realize it, but our pup had some fear and anxiety affecting behavior. Adam and team worked with him to overcome fears and taught him to control his behavior and emotions. We have seen a marked difference. I cannot recommend MOC K-9 Training highly enough!! My 7-year-old Australian Shepherd Chester had become increasingly reactive and fear aggressive over the past couple of years and we hit rock bottom when he bit me this summer. Hard. We had tried several positive-only trainers over the years and I knew he needed something different. After looking at a lot of places online, I found MOC K-9 and took him in for a consult with Adam. My greatest fear was that I would be told that Chester couldn’t be helped and needed to be put down. Instead, Adam made me feel like Chester’s behavior was a very fixable problem and we set specific, obtainable goals. We began working with Mitch the next week and, during our first session, we had to crate Chester and put him outside because he was such a nervous wreck that he was literally screaming. The next session, he reacted at/tried to bite Mitch, pooped all over the floor, and released his anal glands. Mitch remained calm, professional, and in-control. Flash forward five months and Chester is a completely different dog. After ten one-on-one sessions with Mitch and a couple of group classes with Mitch and Adam, Chester is the best version of himself. We can walk, run, go to the vet, and go out in the yard without me having to worry if this is the time that he attacks another person, dog, or kid. His obedience is so much better, and he has gained so much confidence and resilience (as have I) and I will never be able to thank Mitch and Adam enough for that. MOC K9 is top notch. We’ve been working with Adam for a few months now with our 10 month old Golden Retriever. We constantly get compliments on how well behaved he is. That’s such a great reflection of the knowledge that MOCK9 has given us to get him to this level. I don’t think people realize how much work goes into a well behaved dog. My boyfriend and I adopted a 1.5 year old Pittie Mix and immediately started looking for a trainer - and boy are we glad we found MOCK9! We chose 10 sessions and when I tell you Ace is a totally different dog now I MEAN it. Adam and Hector were so great to work with answering all of our questions and flexing our training to exactly what Ace needed or was struggling with at the moment. When we went to our "interview" Ace didn't even know his name and would literally not shut up - barking and lunging at EVERYTHING. MOC K9 has taught us so much about dog training and canine behavior. This isn't where you take your dog so they can teach it to sit; this is where you go to learn how to make your dog want to sit when commanded, with focus and urgency surrounded by distractions. Adam and Hector are amazing! I adopted Roxie, my Rottie/Belgian Mal, and realized I needed training with people who knew the breeds (I should note they will work with any kind of dog). She was starting to display a high prey drive, impulsiveness, and fear reactivity towards certain people. They will tell you, as the owner, what you NEED to hear...not what you want to hear. They hold you accountable for training in between sessions, as well as during the session. I have been able to text and/or chat with them about situations and they will walk through how I can set her up for success in order to build confidence, control her impulsivity, among many other goals. Roxie has come such a long way and I've been receiving compliments from people about how well trained she is when we are in public places like Home Depot, which is such an awesome thing to hear! MOC K9 was a game changer for us. We have a 100 lb German Shepherd, Marcus, and he is an amazing dog, but we didn’t have the tools or knowledge to be the best doggy parents for him. I have had the greatest results since bringing my dog to Adam and Mock K9. Preciously he was fearful and barked at every other dog. We have had 5 sessions with Adam and I noticed a big change after 1. Each time the changes are better and better. He used to shake often, now he is confident and trusting. I have worked with several other trainers and have never seen such results. My dog is so well behaved and we have such a stronger bond. my two German shepherds have been in professional training for one day one hour with the trainer. One hour before he got here I had both dogs with me at Bass Pro and my 6 month old was literally all over the place. One hour after training I went to Lows with Jake and he was a whole different dog. Adam came into our lives at just the right moment. Our fur babies include two gentle giants Ally and Layla. The “girls” became part of our family 4 years ago as a 5-month-old bonded pair. They love our 5 acres, but were fearful of strangers, couldn’t go on car rides without getting sick, and we definitely didn’t trust them in a public setting. All of that has changed since working with M.O.C.K-9, Adam, and of course Maverick. Adam is not like any other trainer! I love that his methods were not “treat” based, but instead possible reinforcement! He challenged them and me with things I never though they would do. Adam is basically Mary Poppins mixed with the dog whisperer. My dog is a border collie aussie mix that didn’t get to socialize at a younger age since he was sick. ..and I take responsibility for not being more consistent with him. He’s currently a year and a half old, and I have to say he’s the best doggo ever after the ten sessions. He used to bark at everything, destroy shoes, clothes, and household items, and be super anxious around other dogs and people (especially kids) or whenever I leave him. Now, this boy does his command the first time without hesitation. Plus, we have a better relationship where he feels less anxiety around others after working on some exercises during the training sessions. I’ve tried doing Petsmarts training sessions and it just wasn’t cutting it. It took more time and money that I could have just spent with Adam and his partner, Maverick. if you are looking for a trainer, look no further. Adam is your guy. not only is he way more reasonably priced than the others that we compared. .. his stuff works. we were on the verge of rehoming one of our dogs because of her aggression issues. in less than 5 sessions we have all of our dogs playing together happily. Adam is also great with working dogs (we have 2 livestock guardians along with 3 house pets). He has given us the tools to get our guardians working and all of us co-existing together. We offer basic and advanced obedience training for dogs of all ages and all levels of experience with training, including puppy development, entry level obedience training, and advanced training.
DETECTION/NOSE WORK
Whether it’s working with a K-9 team, or you and your dog just looking to start nose work, we can help! We work with and train professional K-9 teams, ranging from law enforcement to private contractors. This service is also great for teams competing in NACSW, or any owner who wants to engage in stimulating games with their dog.
PROTECTION/APPREHENSION/SPORT
We train real-world protection dogs for real-world applications. Be it Police K9 teams or family protection We believe in the importance of personal safety and security. We also compete in PSA (Protection Sport Association) and can help build a program for individuals competing in that sport
BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION
The saying “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” just isn’t accurate — any dog can be taught new behaviors. Whether you want to change small behaviors like jumping up on people, or address serious issues like aggression, we can help. We use two primary training systems: operant conditioning and classical conditioning to replace undesirable behaviors with desirable ones.
1 ON 1 TRAINING
This program is what we refer to as “train the trainer.” In this program, our goal and training sessions are designed to train you, the client, on how to train your dog.
BOARD AND TRAIN
This program is fully immersive training. Your dog will be training and learning skills “hands-on” from one of our trainers every day. During their stay, we are working on the customized goals that you have, and creating structure, rules, and boundaries that will transition back to home. Following the Board and Train program, all clients will receive a private 1-on-1 Training session.
