I generally hate going to barbecue places because the barbecue is garbage that is trying to be covered up with cheap pre-made sauce. Good smoked meat shouldn't need barbecue sauce at all (I said need, you can still like sauce).Hey 27 is different. The food is spectacular. The brisket, NC pulled pork, jerk chicken rice bowl, fried shrimp, fried okra, collard, Mac and cheese, red beans and rice... all good. Haven't had a bad item yet and will be back to try more. The food was OK. I don't feel like it was worth $65 for 2 plates. The collards were still crunchy, the mac was overcooked, the brisket itself had no flavor aside from the bbq sauce on it. I will say its not child friendly and the wait for food while dining in was over 35 mins.- update: whoever replies to the negative reviews is very defensive and does not do well with negative feedback and that alone will make anyone not want to go back - More...

First time here, and I can confidently say this won’t be my last!I picked up a huge order for my coworkers, and from the moment I walked in, I knew this place was something special. First of all—the food is absolutely incredible. Every single bite was packed with flavor and tasted like it was made with genuine care. I grew up eating authentic BBQ my entire life, so I don’t hand out compliments lightly, but this is hands down some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had. If you’re looking for REAL, authentic barbecue, this is the place.Everything was cooked to perfection—the meat was unbelievably tender and flavorful, the sides were delicious, and you can truly taste the passion and love that goes into every dish. Nothing tasted rushed or mass-produced. It felt like homemade BBQ at its finest. But what made this experience even more memorable was the owner. His hospitality is second to none. He welcomed me like family, was incredibly friendly, outgoing, and genuinely appreciative of every customer who walked through the door. We talked for a few minutes, and he mentioned he’d been there since around 2 a.m. preparing everything fresh for the day. That level of dedication, hard work, and commitment is rare these days, and it absolutely shows in the quality of the food.As someone who’s new to the area, I’ve been searching for a BBQ spot worth coming back to, and I can honestly say my search is over. This restaurant isn’t just serving amazing food—they’re creating an experience. Great food, incredible service, and an owner who truly pours his heart and soul into his business. If you’re anywhere nearby and thinking about trying this place, do yourself a favor and go. Come hungry, because you’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit. This place deserves every bit of support and every five-star review it gets. I can’t wait to come back! More...

This barbecue place is SO good! I got the brisket tacos (you can add sour cream and salsa to give it a zing, which I did, but the bbq is so good you can go without) and fried okra. My sis got the hawaiian kalua pork bbq roll with slaw and we shared the sweet potato fries (which are dessert, as they had brown sugar and honey sprinkled and drizzled ontop) and collards. The meat was tender and cooked perfectly. Best bbq I have ever had! You will love it! More...

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. They seem to have BBQ from all over the country & even some jerk. I got the pulled pork since that’s my baseline for BBQ places and needless to say they checked every box. The NC vinegar sauce was tangy and slightly spicy, the greens were good with a little crunch and the sweet potato fries were good.I didn’t give it a full 5 since that’s was a lackluster portion of pork. It worked for lunch but I would be disappointed if that was what I was depending on for dinner. Definitely not a deterrent though, I found my new lunch spot when heading down to Charleston! More...

Stopped for a quick lunch while visiting the Volvo plant next door. I had the brisket sandwich, which was amazing! The kind lady on the register whose name has slipped my mind, was awesome, we played the 'guess where my accent is from' game both ways! (England and Haiti). There were flyers on the tables advertising a local petting zoo, so I had to ask if that was what they were barbecuing back there lol.I will be back to try something else next time, but that Texas brisket sandwich will be hard to top! Food was ok....portions were small...price was big. For $103 I would at least expect the to go containers to be half full....they weren't even close. I'm not going to recommend. Sorry. More...

Outstanding bbq joint that was easily accessible off of highway 27. Come here for delicious and authentic food, with owners that were just as great! The couples platter, which featured a bit of everything was enough to feed 3 adults and it was clear the entire menu had a unique flare. Delicious bbq with the biggest ribs I’ve ever seen and surprising offerings including vegetarian food. There’s something here for everyone at this family and veteran owned business. If you’re looking for a memorable spot that isn’t more of the same boring fast food featured along the highway, make a quick detour. It’s worth the extra couple minutes. More...

Potato salad was awesome and Wings were delicious too. People go out and open up your palate. Don’t be closed minded. Be a foodie and venture out of that tiny box you may or may not live in. Glad to meet the owner and hear his side of the story. From the west to the east and in this case south. Mahalo my good friend. More...
