You simply have better options elsewhere. The Melrose park location is much better. Food is subpar. Extra charges for pickled veggies and salsas.

Los Cómales is STILL the best Taco Tuesday around. We have been ordering take out for almost a year, and recently started eating "in house" for a change. Either take out or at the restaurant...food is amazing! Staff is ALWAYS friendly and attentive no matter how busy they are. Finally some legit Mexican food! Oh man, you don't know how happy we were to find this restaurant after many letdowns.We've been here a couple times and tried the burritos, tacos, and taco salads of different proteins. My favorite by far is the al pastor. Soooo flavorful and perfectly cooked with a nice char on it, and some pieces are even crispy which provides a change in texture. The lengua, asada and chorizo are delicious as well. Least favorites would probably be bistec and fish tacos, unfortunately they were a bit bland so I'd probably pass on those. The burritos are generously packed with meat of choice, lettuce, sour cream, rice and more, all that goodness. But also avocado !!! I was so surprised because the taquerias in the city where I'm from would charge for avocado lol. Extra kudos. My (Mexican) bf really enjoys their rice and beans, and says it's comparable to the way his mom cooks it. I cannot believe I'm doing this but it needs to be done. I'm sure this location is known for tacos and other things, but I'm going to tell you what they are NOT known for Quesabirria tacos. I can name three other places for you, this ain't it. I ordered via DoorDash (Taqueria Los Comales Lombard), four tacos they were absolutely disgusting. Smushed together, packed poorly and no it has nothing to do with the driver. I looked at this and wanted to throw up. Maybe someone had an off day? Maybe it was waiting at the restaurant for too long, I don't know but Quesabirria tacos are not supposed to be soggy, they're even a little crispy at some places and they include cheese. Taco Tuesday! However, not until after you order, eat and go to pay... at full price! and find out that they do not honer the $1. 50 tacos. I asked the cashier in disbelief to tell me my total again for 6 tacos. She rudely stated since I am paying with card I have to pay them full price. I tell her waitress told me special price, again now with more attitude, she loudly tells me it's only if I pay cash. Would it would have been courtesy to tell customers in advance. Slaps hands around cashier area, again tells me loudly that theres an atm over there, pointing to the door. I went and got the cash, paid their $3 fee. The Steak fajitas & the steak sopes was the best things I ordered from here the breading on the sope was bomb. For the steak burrito it was soggy dripped way to much grease, lacked ingredients inside looked bigger then when u actually bit into it & find its mostly tortilla the chicken torta there was more bread than ingredients inside and they only gave one little slice of avocado for the whole torta with a small little chicken patty that didn't even cover the bread, the AL pastor quesadilla and the chicken quesadilla was okay but barely had any cheese in it the alpha store was overcooked to wear it like taste it burnt, the chicken barely had any flavor unless you added they're salsa or if you are at home and you had your own sour cream and stuff like that but for the most part will not order those again I will return for the steak fajitas and the steak sopes More...

The food is very good. I've have good experiences dining in and for take out; however, I've attempted to order two times for parties and each time they took the order and then disappointed me at the last minute, explaining that they had sold out of their Chili Rellenos. Most recently I provided two days advance notice and they called about an hour before my guests arrived to inform they had sold out. The explanation was sadly laughable.I won't count on them again when I have company coming over for their very good food. If I could give them zero stars I would. This business is definitely stealing money from people. Went in with my fiancé and the dude had the audacity to charge us $15 extra and not give me the idealized bill. When confronted and I asked for the itemized bill the dude was super sketchy and gave me it but ripped the top portion off. The top part had all the extra stuff he charged me. I did the math and it was $15 over charged. I confronted him and he played stupid. He acted like he over charged me in accident. He even had the audacity to hand me the recite with a pen TO TIP HIM LOL. I asked him why he gave me a pen since there was nothing to sign I was not going to tip him. Greedy place. This isn't the first time I've noticed my food was a lot but this was the first time I actually checked. He gave me the $15 back. I've gone here a few times and the last few times I've noticed my bill has been super high for like 3 tacos and a burrito and a medium drink. Well I came today and noticed that it was a lot for the food. Asked for my ITEMIZED recite since he only gave me the recite that showed the total and the dude was hesitant to give it to me then proceeded to rip off the top portion of the recite because that was were he added extra stuff and over charged me by $15!!!!! He gave me back my $15 but that's not the point. The point is he's probably doing this to A LOT of people. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME EITHER. I went back and he was super guilty and said it was an accident yeah right lol and to top it off he said he was the owner SUPER SHIESTY GUY. make sure you check your recite the dude is over charging more people 100%. I appreciate that they were open so late on a Friday night for delivery but there was one major screw up, every item I ordered I put a note that I wanted hot sauce, and the same note for the order in general. Ok so I usually eat at Chicago locations like 55th Pulaski and 18th Ashland... Also just found out that they are Franchises. Being Franchise makes a Huge difference... That is why the Food tastes soooo Much Better at this Location. It tastes so much richer. In chicago Comales their foods tastes like they were in a hurry to make it. When I ate here today Dec.16.2021 at 4pm You can taste the love and care that the chefs put into the food. My Liquado tasted " OUT OF THIS WORLD"!!!!! Not like the chicago comales watery and flavorless.. This was my First time at this Location and Thanks to Los Comales in lombard I had a "Wonderful Experience" and saying to myself ..."We will be back with some of our family to Enjoy dinner here." I was charged $4.50 for a half cup of Elote. $25.00 for 8 tacos on taco tuesday and 2 half cups of Elote. What a rip off. Save your money and get better foid at Los Burritos on North Ave.
