We are Salvadorian and always looking for a good local Pupuseria (we're from LA and they have lots of great spots). Â We've ordered here quite a bit and the pupusas here are really good, always fresh and good size too! My mom also orders their tamales and they are pretty tasty as well. Â The only thing that I took one star out is because the curtido is hit or miss. Â On the times that it is a miss, its always the same thing; someone must REALLY love oregano - because thats all you can taste and nothing else. Â My mom has had to "fix" it a couple of times when we've ordered to go because it is just too overwhelming. Â You can always tell when the curtido isn't up to par with just the look of the curtido when you get it. Â My guess is that someone else sometimes does the curtido when it comes out like this, because like I said, its not always bad. Â One last note, they do have a surcharge for anyone using a card payment, they do prefer cash. More...

I got there about 20 minutes later and food was not ready yet. So i paid and waited at lobby. I decided to order a tamarindo large cup with light ice, but when i took a sip of the drink it tasted horrible. No words for how it tasted. More...

I love their pupusas and tamales de elote y de pollo. But I just called trying to order some tamales and pupusas it's 7:00 pm they close at 7:30. She said that I would have to pick it up at the other restaurant, the new one that they just opened. I was not even done with my other, I said ok (that I would go pick it up there) and this young lady hangs up on me when I told her that I also wanted to order some pupusas. I'm sorry but you all need better employees, YOU NEED TO TEACH THEM TO BE NICER. I HAVE TO SAY IT, CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS AT THIS PLACE. and apparently it's not only me who says that. I work at a fast food restaurant and I understand how stressful and frustrating it can be sometimes, however, that doesn't give us the right to treat bad a customer or to give them attitude. Specially when the customer it's not even mean to you. Now, I ain't coming to this place anymore. More...

I went for dinner, not knowing the restaurant had changed hands, and I was pleasantly surprised. I'd never heard of a pupusa and soon discovered that I love these stuffed, grilled corn cakes. I was back for lunch with a friend within the week. Besides pupusas, we had the filet of fish and fried plantains. Everything was very fresh and perfectly prepared. This restaurant is an outstanding addition to Vista. More...

7.8/10I drove about 15 minutes to get to this location and I'd say it was worth it. You could tell the restaurant had a very authentic feel and ambience. That being said, the wait was a little long (about 20 minutes) so even though the location is nice, I'd recommend to order online. Finally, I ordered two pupusas (revuelta and chicharron) and a tamal. The revuelta pupusa I thought lacked a little bit of flavor but the chicharron was very good. The tamal was good, but definitely not their specialty. Also the cabbage deserves a shout-out because it genuinely was some of the best I've had.All in all, $5 for a pupusa is pretty high but I definitely enjoyed this spot. More...

Little hole in the wall place. Very large portions, and they were very generous on the cheese! We ordered a bunch of plates because we weren't sure if we would be back in the area any time soon, so wanted to try a variety of their dishes. The pupusas were very flavorful and delicious, again, very generous on the cheese...they're practically fluffy quesadillas! I can't remember which ones I ordered to be honest, but they were all very good and hit the spot. You can easily order one and split between two people...but why do that when it's this good? The only other place where I've tried pupusas was in LA at Grand Central Market. And I would say this place is a good substitute if you don't want to battle LA traffic. More...

I went here based on the great reviews, but I was incredibly disappointed. The tamales were sopping wet (once you put a fork in it it would just crumble to pieces) and was complete mush. Larger size pupusas than I had expected.I enjoyed the queso & pollo, but the chicharron was my favorite. The curtido could have used some Jalapeño or Serrano peppers for sabor, and this was unexpected and the reason why I only gave 4 stars; it was more like American cole slaw. This restaurant is the go to place if you want to experience true Salvadorian food!It was my first visit to Las Pupusas Mama Lita Restaurant in Vista. We arrived for a late lunch. The parking lots are behind the restaurant and there are plenty of them. The restaurant operates on first come first serve basis and may not look like much, but don't judge the book by it's cover as their food speaks volumes! I cut to the chase here and tell you right away that this is by far the best Salvadorian food I have tasted so far. It's authentic, flavoursome home like cooking food. It can't get better than this (certified by my Salvadorian/American spouse:) ).Here is what we ordered:Starters: fried yuca (ask to make it crispy) with chicharrón (pork rinds).Tamales: corn and chicken. The chicken tamale was to die for! The chicken melted in my mouth and the masa was velvety smooth.Pupusas were the hero. I opted for non dairy (normally all come with cheese) and I couldn't stop eating it. It was not oily and simply delicious. I absolutely love curtido on top of my Pupusas so ordered extra portion. This curtido was fresh and had nice kick to it. For the drinks I would recommend tamarind and fruit salad. Both were fresh and refreshing.I am a big fan of this place now and will come back for more food.Give it a go, it's really worth it! More...

HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! I placed a phone order and made it very clear that I had two separate orders. I went to pick up my order and a VERY RUDE lady ROSA had the worst attitude. She spoke to me horribly and rolled her eyes all because I reminded her that it was two separate orders and she was charging all in one. I have never experienced such horrible service. Rosa and another lady that were there today 10/29 both laughed at me when I asked for their names and only Rosa said her name the other lady didn't want to tell me her name. I am in disbelief and I do not understand how those ladies especially Rosa are employees there. My family and I have gone to this restaurant for many years and have never experienced anything like this. After this situation we will never return. You guys should check your employees because of people like ROSA you're restaurant will keep getting negative reviews.EDIT: For everyone reading this. I CALLED over the phone and clearly explained to the lady my orders. Â The lady in the restaurant was NOT wearing a mask and neither was I. So to the business owner who comment, don't blame the mask for your horrible service and employee when none of us was wearing a mask. More...

I'll be honest. Their tamales and pupusas were good, but after the poor service I received I'd rather give my money to a business that will value my family as customers. The lady taking our order and checking us out, made a double take whether or not she wanted to sell us her last tamales. Finally she let us have the tamales, which is... bizarre? Like... I thought you were running a restaurant?? Then when we returned to give her our feedback on the horchata and how it tasted burnt, she left my mother talking by herself and waited in the kitchen until we left. I'm only giving 2 stars because the food was good and of course it's not the cooks fault, but everything else was negative. More...

The service? A minus one start if I could. Not only did I wait for this place to open (which I didn't mind at all). But everyone got their food before me, the call in orders, the food delivery people, the guy who ordered after me in line (we both ordered the exact same thing) then the woman behind the counter had audacity to tell me once she finally handed me my order that if I wanted take out to "call it in" TF? I waited half an hour for you to give me one caldo. Both things I ordered initially they didn't have. I really wanted to try their food. I had already bought breakfast but I really wanted to try their food, which was excellent, a bit pricy but excellent. I don't mind paying for great food, but there's a lot of places great service and great food around. Even the man who ordered after me was wondering what happened to my food and said "but you ordered before me" as I was still waiting for my food. Their customer service is a joke! Lady, don't aggravate clients after they waited over 30 minutes for a plate of food while you served EVERYONE else. Call it in next time? You're a joke. More...

My friend & I were looking for a new place to try & decided to try this place out since she has never had Salvadorian food. Website says they close at 8:30. Walked in like 10 minutes before 8 to order take out. The moment we stepped in, we were not greeted and the cashier asked if we had already ordered. We proceeded to say no and right when she was going to give us the menu she snatched it back and said "actually no, the kitchen will get mad" in Spanish. She said she was going to close already and then said actually I'm closed.
