Sammy was recommended to me by a coworker after I asked who she had worked with when training her dog, because he is lovely and so well behaved. Our current dog is overall a great dog, but there were a few behaviors we had never fully addressed that were starting to bother me, mainly greeting people politely when they enter our home and overreacting to delivery drivers.I have worked with many trainers in the area with both our current dog and a previous dog who was hugely challenging, and Sammy is by far the best trainer we have ever worked with. I so wish we had found her years ago before our other dog passed, because I truly believe she would have made our lives with him so much easier.We have only had two sessions with Sammy for our current dog and have already seen more progress than we did over months with other trainers. Her sessions are incredibly in depth, yet she explains everything in a way that is easy to understand and very relatable. Our dog is sensitive but still needs clear boundaries, and Sammy has mastered a balanced approach to training that no other trainer we have worked with has been able to achieve.I have experience with both positive-only and balanced trainers, and many can be rigid about what they believe is the “right” way to train, even when it is not working for your dog or does not feel right to you. Sammy is the opposite. She meets both the dog and the owner where they are, and adapts her approach based on each dog’s individual needs.She is extremely communicative, approachable, and genuinely fun to work with. It is clear she has a deep understanding of dog behavior and sees each dog as an individual.I cannot recommend Sammy highly enough and will be recommending her to everyone I know!!! More...

I could not recommend Integrative Canine Coaching more highly! My pup and I have been working with Sammy (day camp, private sessions, and occasional boarding) for over a year. My high energy and reactive pup Willow and I have transformed our relationship with Sammy’s guidance and I am so grateful! I used to often come home from walks in tears because of Willow’s behavior towards other dogs. We now feel calm and confident walking in any situation. Willow’s world gets to be so much bigger because of that :) We have also worked on Willows general impulse control, self regulation, jumping, and her interactions with other dogs. Now that Willow and I have worked through our big challenges, I still send Willow to day camp with Sammy a few times a month because she loves it sooo much.Sammy is understanding, knowledgeable, and incredibly professional. We have experienced some challenging situations together with Willow and Sammy has handled all of them with a huge amount of professionalism, kindness, and care. Sammy has been a HUGE help with our two 2.5yo pups, Gorgi and Maple. We had been looking for help with the leash, recall, and dog/people reactivity and have seen a big improvement since working with Sammy this year. Every step of the way Sammy has acted as a partner through the process. The initial intake call was kind and thoughtful (not once did we feel embarrassed or hopeless by our situation which has happened with other potential trainers), and Sammy was direct in what were reasonable expectations moving forward. Private sessions have been instrumental for us in learning/practicing better techniques and the day camps have been a great outlet for our pups to socialize and get some facetime with Sammy without our distraction. Sammy is an excellent trainer. She helped me get my 6/7 year old hounds up to par on leashes as they weren’t used to them and very reactive on them. We now walk every day with leash and I have control over them. It's so enjoyable to do so. She has gifted us such a better journey together. Can’t recommend Sammy and Integrative Canine Coaching enough! My high energy reactive pup and I have been working with her for a little under a year and it’s changed our lives. Sammy has helped Willow and I develop stronger communication, trust, and understanding. I used to often come home from walks in tears because of my pups behavior towards other dogs and general leash behavior. I felt helpless and did not have confidence in our ability to leave the house without challenges. Within a month or two of working together, Sammy helped Willow develop a healthier mindset towards other dogs and distractions, and taught me a lot about what’s going on in Willows mind. We now feel confident walking in all environments and Willow does great. Leash skills, general reactivity, polite play, polite greeting, and relationships with other dogs have been our main struggles and Sammy has helped us dramatically improve all of these skills and given me so much more confidence in my ability to handle my pup. Sammy is passionate, communicative, proactive, empathetic, non-judgmental, accountable, professional, and kind. I was in Ft Collins area for three months and was struggling with my pup being extra naughty. I took advantage of the two week board and train program after looking at several different trainers, finally landing on Sammy. My experience with Sammy was so helpful and exactly what I needed. She helped me learn how to do several things differently which was really helpful. I have a fair amount of training under my belt, but it's always helpful for others to watch and give you feedback. She has a very soft spoken approach, with a gentle touch. Something that I found refreshing and it was fun to watch her work with pups using very little talk, and yet she gets the desired results. She integrated several different tools into training all quite effectively. I loved knowing my dog was with her 24/7 while in her care. What do you love most about your job?
I love watching people enjoy their dogs company more and more. I understand the frustration that comes along with having a dog struggling with problem behaviors. Seeing the relief that the owner feels and the enjoyment the dog gets when they are finally on the same page is what makes it all worth it!
What inspired you to start your own business?
While working for a large training franchise, I grew tired of being restricted in what I could offer clients. I saw people and dogs that couldn’t get everything they needed from programs that were designed for financial gains more than they were for the success of the client. Opening my own business allowed me to offer customized training programs and incorporate what I’m most passionate about, focusing holistically on the health of the dog and human.
Why should our clients choose you?
I want clients that speak with me and resonate with my approach and beliefs. I am confident that I can get you where you need to go, but there truly are a million different ways to achieve the same goal. For me, it’s about enjoying the journey as much as possible, and feeling GOOD about the training. If you want results and compassionate training for your dog, we are a good match.
Daycamp
An alternative to daycare, daycamp provides structured activities to work on anything your dog may be struggling on at home. Crate training, leash skills, socialization, etc! Your dog spends the day with me and you receive a report at the end to detail all that they accomplished.
Private Sessions
One on one coaching to help you achieve your goals with your dog. In these sessions, I will give you exercises to practice and we will go over them together so that you feel confident continuing practice while I am gone! You have access to me in between sessions for questions anytime of the day.
Board and Train
The board and train is an excellent way to create a foundation for your dog while also setting you best up for success. An immersive program where your dog stays at my home like one of the family. I provide weekly updates as well as weekly sessions to keep you involved in the training and progress! We can address all things from house training to reactivity in this program.
