DJ Rick A at Instant Request helped make our event unforgettable. He is super chill to chat with but takes his job seriously and knows exactly how to feel out the vibe to match the request of the couple! We told him the vibes we were hoping for and he followed our requests to a T. The dance floor started to taper only once (from a song we had on our request list- not one he chose) and after a verse or two, he faded it into a different song that pulled everyone back out onto the floor again! We never worried about the audio/music side of things on our wedding day, and that's thanks to Rick. He even came to check on me during dinner to see if I needed anything, then bought me an energy drink when I said I was exhausted. I wish I could give him 10 stars, and if we got married again, we'd want him to be the DJ.The only negative with Instant Request was that the form was slightly complicated, merely because it's so detailed. This is beneficial once it's completed, but it if you want specific songs/playlists played (like we did), it gets to be a more daunting task than I was up for. Hannah was absolutely amazing, and we cannot recommend her enough! From start to finish, she was incredibly attentive, organized, and on top of every detail. Our day moved a little longer than anticipated, but Hannah handled everything seamlessly, adjusting the music and transitions so naturally that everything flowed beautifully without ever feeling rushed or out of place.She did an incredible job keeping us on track with announcements, speeches, our first dance, and all the special moments throughout the evening. Her timing, communication, and ability to anticipate what was needed made such a difference. Jimmy from Instant Request DJ Entertainment was outstanding. He immediately made us feel very comfortable and celebrated in our initial meeting, followed our lead while offering helpful insights when necessary, and, because he had played at our venue before, needed very little assistance getting his equipment ready. He showed up early and I didn’t even get the chance to talk with him before the ceremony, but because he was so organized and attentive during our meeting, everything went genuinely perfectly. One of my specific pet peeves during the wedding ceremonies is when music stops and starts abruptly, and he was very good about fading the music because I had said something about that in our meeting. The reception was also SO much fun - he was super hype but also didn’t make it about himself. He just got the party started and kept it going all night, and I think we got more compliments on the dance party than anything else. Auctavius was OUTSTANDING as our wedding DJ! He read the crowd perfectly and kept the dance floor packed all night. Even our older guests stayed out there dancing right alongside everyone else, which is not an easy thing to pull off! DJ Sergio was everything you could ask for in a DJ. From our first meeting to the end of our wedding reception he was amazing with communication and making us feel like everything was taken care of. Not only did he absolutely crush it with the music and keeping the crowd engaged, he helped keep speeches and special dances flowing seamlessly. DJ Stephen W played an incredible set for my Wedding at The Commodore in Saint Paul, MN. He was able to play the classics and keep my guests dancing, respond to requests and keep the energy high. He worked with my specific vision to transition into West coast EDM, trance, and drum & BASS as the night went on. The set was honestly incredible and showcased the music that shaped my wife's and my fondest memories of raves and festivals we attended in LA, the Bay Area and Las Vegas.Prior to my arrival at the venue with my wife, he had the decency and class to play old standards from the first half of the last century in keeping with the Art Deco mis-en-scene of the Commodore. After dinner, I had the most fun dancing I've had in my life. The transitions were tight and he clearly has a love for the music as well as a great way of interacting with the crowd. (Serious props for playing some Backstreet boys, Talking Heads and Eiffel 65 for some nostalgia and then having the balls at the end to play some heavy midtempo bass ala Rezz at my request and then getting all the Carleton alumni to represent for our last song Like a Prayer.) 10/10 would recommend as a DJ who loves the music, reads the room and will make your event one to remember! Matt was responsive and easy to work with leading up to the day, and our DJ was Hannah S who was absolutely wonderful from the moment i had the first call with her and throughout the wedding day. They have a planner tool that is really helpful, but at times a bit confusing to navigate.My only minor critique is i wish they would update some of the music library they have in the planner. There is a section where you can make a custom playlist or just add some songs you would want to hear and they are sectioned off into really easy to navigate groups (bridal party entrance, first dance, 00s, etc) but when I was looking through it felt like it was a little dated and was missing some newer songs that you would expect to be there. My fiancé and I booked Instant Request DJ Entertainment for our wedding, and this has been one of the most disappointing experiences we’ve had with any of our vendors. When we initially booked, I specifically told the company I didn’t understand the contract and asked for clarification. I was told in writing that the reception was $820 and the ceremony was $250. When we changed our wedding date, just as we did with all our other vendors, our reception price increased to $1,030. Every other vendor communicated changes upfront, especially pricing. Instant Request simply sent an updated contract without directly explaining the increase.Months later, when I questioned our remaining balance, I learned why the price had changed. Instead of acknowledging the communication issue, the situation turned into an exhausting back-and-forth. My text messages began going unanswered, while the vendor responded through The Knot instead. Once I pointed that out, the text responses suddenly resumed.I also discovered that the original contract link now opens the updated version, meaning I could no longer access the original document to compare what had changed.We paid $1,030 and later postponed our wedding until September 12, 2027. Our payments were transferred to the new date, with an additional $265 remaining.After leaving a two-star review about our experience, the owner emailed asking me to remove it because they hadn’t actually performed at our wedding yet. He later called to discuss the review. When I explained I wouldn’t change it because it reflected our experience, he made comments such as, “If we’re going to service you, I need to know this,” and “I feel bad for you guys. I’m sorry that we have to do this.” I interpreted those statements as veiled threats that our booking could be affected if we refused to change our review. Although he never explicitly stated he was canceling, the conversation left us very uncomfortable.Afterward, we emailed Sean and Matt requesting written confirmation that our booking was still secure. Neither responded. However, the company found time to publicly respond to our Google review, claiming that we “simply did not read” the contract and were unwilling to admit it.That’s particularly disappointing considering I specifically contacted the company in April because I didn’t understand the contract and asked them to explain the pricing. My concern was never that the higher price wasn’t printed in the updated contract. It was that nobody directly communicated the increase when our date changed.The company has publicly stated that they are happy to provide services next year, but has still not answered our direct emails. At this point, we would prefer to receive our $1,030 back and hire another DJ, but our refund request has been refused.This isn’t about a $210 difference. It’s about transparency, communication, and how customers are treated when they raise concerns. I stand by my review because it reflects our actual experience. If you’re looking for a wedding DJ, do yourself a favor and book Dimitrius “Dee Bomb” Stephens. He made sure no detail was overlooked. We gave him a full custom playlist and he knocked it out of the park; seamlessly transitioning songs from multiple genres. When a rogue wedding guest requested a song that was not on the playlist, he checked with the wedding couple for a “go/no go” before playing.
