Our 10-month old pup Luna ADORES Jonathan. We adopted her from the Dekalb shelter and were experiencing strong reactivity & leash aggression on walks. It got so bad that we could no longer take her on neighborhood walks. It broke our hearts and we knew we needed help. We did a 2-week at-home intensive training with Jonathan and then added 1 additional week because it was going so well. We couldn’t believe how quickly her reactivity improved. Jonathan was fine with my dog, but he was highly unreliable and "ghosted" us after 3 of of the 7 sessions we paid for because he takes the money for the training up front. Therefore, he owes us $220 which he said, per his own contract, he would refund; however, after requesting the refund after 3 days of me reaching out to try to schedule our next session and him not responding (which had been his M.O for 2 of the completed lessons, 1 of which he canceled hours before) he responded that he could refund, but he has not done so and will not respond to my calls, texts, or e-mails. Buyer beware. I would not recommend him because of his unreliabilty, but if you are not worried about an actual timeline or are okay with having to constantly waste your time because of lack of follow-thru, go ahead and use this trainer, but DO NOT pay ahead of time as he requires because he obviously is ok with taking money and never rendering the agreed upon services. I cannot express enough what a great trainer Jonathan is. He has changed my dog in a way I never thought was possible. This is my third attempt at training and he is far and away the most understanding, kind, and talented trainer we have worked with. People ask me ALL THE TIME who I use because he's made such a difference. He was a pretty wild working dog shepherd and his level of happiness is clearly much higher now that Jonathan has helped me understand his needs and how to manage his particular personality. He is much more patient and indepth than other trainers- he truly understands your dog's breed and works with their tendencies for the best outcome. If you love your dog and need someone to help them be their best- Jonathan is the very best choice! I think the most important thing for us was that he didn't rush the process, and made sure our dog got what he needed instead of being hyper focused on a timeline. He was incredibly generous with his time and his patience with Odin changed the way my dog engages with people on a much larger scale. After working with Jonathan for a little over two weeks, he COMPLETELY changed my dog’s behavior and fear-based aggression with new people through his training methods. My dog is now extremely obedient and listens well, he is less anxious and can now feel comfortable in his “place” command when people come over. He also knows “come” when off leash in the backyard as well as “heel” and he has improved on our walks tremendously!!! Jonathan, not only trained my dog, but he also walked me through each method with detail so that I can be consistent and confident in keeping up with the training beyond the sessions. Be warned! I took my pup here for a “meet and greet” visit where they’re supposed to watch him and his interactions with other dogs to make sure he can be a regular, and instead they let my poor pup outside on their TURF so long in the heat in the sun that he got second degree burns on his paws! They said they would bring him inside at 11, they left him out longer then that, they said they noticed his paws were hurt when they brought him in but instead let him continue playing and damage his paws even more? And didn’t even call us right away to tell us? What kind of nonsense? I also called at noon to check up on him and they didn’t even mention it!!! Then we went to pick him up at 4 and if I hadn’t noticed they wouldn’t have said a thing!!! We will never be back and we will never recommend this place. And the owners excuse was “he plays hard?” Umm no. It was 95° weather, sunny, and you left a young pup outside on AstroTurf longer than you said you would. Puddin' loves her Barker Lounge family!!
While we vacationed out of the country, Puddin' got sick while staying at Barker Lounge.
Kelly (the owner) took Pud to our normal vet, got everything checked out, and even gave her daily medicine until we returned.
We received daily updates via email, and knew our sick baby was in good hands!

I LOVE this place! I have a new German Shorthaired pointer puppy. She is now 7 months old, and TOTALLY crazy! ( got her at 6 mos of age) She gets to burn all that energy, is super happy and tired when she gets home. I only take her maybe 1 to 2 days a week.. She has a hangover from one day! She has also come home wet, but I dont care! I was thrilled to see a picture of her laying on her side in a swimming pool, with the waterhose next to her! She loves it! We board our french bulldog and yellow lab here whenever we go out of town and have had nothing but a great experience with The Barker Lounge! I appreciate how strict they are on vaccines being up to date and the dogs having meet and greet time to feel comfortable around each other. My BOO has been to many different doggie daycare and boarding facilities across the country. I've always had to carry her in, because she didn't like going. Not easy when your pup weighs 42 pounds! But Barker Lounge changed all that. She loves Barker Lounge and the staff, and when we pull into the parking lot, she gets so excited, she actually pulls me on the leash to hurry up and get in the door! Rich was so nice and the groomer, I am sorry I forgot your name, came out and greeted me and my dog. I’ve never had a groomer connect with me on a personal level. Puppy Training Program
You can productively channel your puppy's energy by enrolling them in a training plan and regularly implementing everything they have learned. Isn't that better than them destroying your home? The majority of dogs relish "performing" their newly learned skills. This is what we call structured playtime. We will come to you two times a week for three weeks. The first lesson always covers potty training, housebreaking, and crate training. Once we create a unique customized plan suited to your daily schedule, we can focus on laying a proper foundation for obedience training.
Custom Program
Our custom program is designed to cater to individuals with busy schedules or those looking for budget-friendly options. Within our customized program, we select and prioritize the essential commands required to address specific behavioral issues in your dog.
We offer flexibility in scheduling, giving you the choice between two sessions per week for a three-week duration or three sessions per week for two weeks, depending on your availability. We strongly recommend a minimum commitment of two weekly sessions to maintain consistency throughout the training process.
Between lessons, we encourage you to practice the techniques and commands covered in the previous session. This practice is not aimed at instructing your dog, but rather at equipping you, as the owner, with the skills to confidently handle your dog, issue commands effectively, and reinforce desired behaviors.
Daily Training Program
Five days a week, we come to you and do all of the training so you never miss a beat. Our training provides all of the benefits of a board and train while avoiding the need for your dog to spend the night away. All of our obedience training programs come with unlimited follow-up lessons upon completion.
Our daily training program focuses on establishing a strong foundation for advanced training. We cover both on-leash and off-leash obedience, as well as the resolution of specific behavioral issues. One notable advantage of our program is our in-home training approach. By working with your dog in its familiar environment, we can address real-time issues without the need to simulate problems as often required in a board and train facility. This personalized approach ensures that the training we provide becomes a lasting part of your dog's behavior, as it's established right in your own home.
