This DJ had a magical ability to read the room! My husband and I had added a handful of songs to the request list, but the DJ took that information and ran with it! He was able to get a whole group of people to stay on the Dance floor for song after song after song. He understood the age of people dancing, and played every hit song I could’ve ever imagined, that was perfect for us. He played songs I know I should’ve put on my request list, but didn’t even think about. The DJ and the Photo Booth attendant are so easy to work with, they were very flexible, and adapted easily to the changes of our wedding. I recently had the privilege of be the celebrant for an outdoor wedding at Butterfield Country Club in Oak Brook, IL where DJ Dave handled the music and sound system for the ceremony, and also the reception. What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
In my opinion it is not being stuck on just one type of music. A DJ is not a juke box. We are skilled individuals who learn to read a crowd. Being familiar with all genres of music and knowing just how to piece the music together will keep the dancefloor packed with a mix of everyone all night long.
How would you describe your ‘style’?
I don’t have just one particular style, it is a mix of everything. My style is mixing through almost every genre of music throughout the night to cater to the entire crowd.
What do you love most about your job?
Watching people have a good time. I enjoy watching an older person dancing to a newer song and watching the surprised facial expressions on the younger crowd.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Being a people person, I love all phases of the DJ business from initial contact, first meeting, planning and the event. It’s a great feeling to be part of the entire process.
