How long have you been interested in magic?
My first paid professional show was in 1969 at the tender age of 14. 2020 will mark my 50th year as a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. Since then, I have performed in Norway, Denmark, Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, Belize, St. Martin, Puerto Rico and about half of the states in the U.S..
Take us through your show – what can we expect?
A typical Doug Welch performance will be infused with plenty of surprises, humor (some subtle, some corny) and baffling miracles that will leave you amazed. He uses music and in some shows a live rabbit. Every show has tricks with common objects as well as magical props. There's something for all ages and even audience participation.
What do you love most about your job?
If I can bring a smile to your face, make you suspend belief, warm your heart or in any way give you a break from your daily stresses, then I've done my job and am well rewarded.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Blessed is the man who can turn his hobby into a profession!
