these kitchen cabinets are super nice, probably the best quality I’ve seen. They use plywood, so they’re really sturdy. The prices are great too. Honestly, I haven’t seen any company in the U.S. doing it like them for this price. that's great CLAH! More...

I’m super happy with the custom cabinet I got from CLAH. Great quality for the price, and Mr. Dan was super helpful and easy to talk to. They’re also working on my new home project with their architect team, and I’ll update my review once it’s done. Highly recommend! More...

Q&As

Determining if a garage is suitable for conversion depends on several factors:

Structural Integrity:
Check the foundation, walls, and roof for signs of damage or instability. A solid structure is essential for conversion.
Ensure the flooring can support the intended new use.
Zoning and Permits:
Verify local zoning laws and building codes. Some areas may restrict garage conversions or have specific requirements.
Check for any HOA rules or community guidelines that might impact the project.
Size and Layout:
Evaluate whether the garage's size meets your intended purpose, whether it's a living space, office, or gym.
Consider if the layout allows for necessary elements like insulation, ventilation, plumbing, or electrical systems.
Access and Egress:
Ensure there's adequate access, including doors and windows, to comply with safety standards.
Proper egress is required for rooms like bedrooms to meet building codes.
Utilities:
Assess the availability and condition of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. You may need to upgrade or install these utilities for a functional living space.
Consider water drainage and whether you’ll need to add or alter existing systems.
Insulation and Weatherproofing:
Garages often lack sufficient insulation and may require additional work to make the space comfortable and energy-efficient.
Address potential moisture issues to prevent mold or damage.
Parking Requirements:
Some municipalities require a certain number of off-street parking spaces. Converting your garage might mean you need to compensate with alternative parking solutions.
Cost and Feasibility:
Conduct a cost analysis to ensure the project is within budget and aligns with your goals.
CLAH can assist with accurate cost planning and project management to streamline this process.

The garage conversion process involves several stages, from initial planning to completion. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

1. Initial Assessment
Feasibility Study: Assess if the garage structure is suitable for conversion (foundation, walls, roof, utilities).
Zoning and Permits: Verify local building codes, zoning regulations, and obtain necessary permissions.
Budgeting: Outline the costs involved in the conversion, including permits, materials, labor, and potential utility upgrades.
2. Planning and Design
Space Planning: Define the purpose of the conversion (e.g., additional living space, home office, gym).
Design: Create architectural and interior designs, including layouts, finishes, and furniture placement.
Utility Planning: Design for electrical outlets, plumbing (if needed), and HVAC integration.
Insulation & Soundproofing: Plan for adequate insulation and soundproofing to meet building codes and comfort standards.
3. Permits and Approvals
Submit the plans to your local building authority for approval.
Address any feedback or modifications required by inspectors or regulatory bodies.
Ensure compliance with fire safety and egress requirements.
4. Demolition and Preparation
Clear Out the Space: Remove existing items stored in the garage and clear the area.
Demolition: Remove or modify walls, floors, or garage doors as per the design plan.
Structural Reinforcement: Repair or upgrade the foundation, walls, or roof if needed to support the new use.
5. Utility Installation
Plumbing: Install pipes if the space will include a bathroom or kitchen area.
Electrical Work: Set up wiring for lighting, outlets, and appliances.
HVAC Systems: Extend heating and cooling systems or add standalone units as necessary.
6. Construction and Finishing
Flooring: Upgrade the flooring with suitable materials for the intended use.
Walls and Insulation: Install insulation, drywall, and finishes to make the space livable.
Windows and Doors: Add or modify windows and doors to meet ventilation and egress requirements.
Ceiling: Finish the ceiling with proper insulation and aesthetics in mind.
7. Interior Design
Furniture and Fixtures: Place custom or pre-designed furniture tailored to the space’s new purpose.
Paint and Decor: Apply wall treatments, paint, and decor elements to complete the look.
Lighting: Add task, ambient, or accent lighting to enhance functionality and aesthetics.
8. Final Inspection and Approval
Schedule an inspection with the local building authority to ensure all work complies with codes.
Address any issues identified during the inspection process.
9. Handover and Use
Clean and finalize the space for use.
Conduct a walkthrough to ensure everything meets your expectations.
Enjoy your newly converted garage!
