Harrison and I are SO glad that we made the decision to train our dog, Hudson, with Capital Canine. Kevin is the absolute best, and we fully trusted him with our 2 year old dog for the 3 week board and train program.
Before training, Hudson struggled with separation anxiety, couldn’t go in a crate or car, was very impulsive and would run away at the park with unreliable recall and boundaries. He is a very sweet natured and fun dog who is great with people, he just needed help learning how to control his energy. Harrison and I did not know where to begin with training, and we felt overwhelmed.
Kevin made it extremely easy for us by doing all the hard work in establishing a behavioral foundation during the 3 week board and train. He even kept Hudson for an extra couple of days as he was committed to getting Hudson comfortable in a crate before bringing him home to us. The transformation has been incredible. After Hudson came home to us, there were immediate improvements. He could hold a place, sit, and down through distraction, and rest in his crate when asked. He understood how the E-collar worked, had better recall, and could heel and walk on a leash without pulling. These basic commands have truly changed our day to day and have helped us create more structure in Hudson’s day.
On top of the 3 week program, Capital Canine continued to be supportive and helpful. Kevin worked with us in 4 additional sessions after the board and train to teach Harrison and myself how to continue the training throughout different environments and scenarios. He would respond to texts in-between sessions when Harrison and I had questions or were unsure of how we were training. He was a great teacher and helped us understand how dogs think and how we can better communicate with them. We really looked forward to these sessions and enjoyed our time with Kevin! Hudson always had a blast too.
A month has now passed since the board and train. We have kept up with Hudson’s training and are confident taking Hudson in public, to parks, family and friend’s houses, and he is a more confident dog in those spaces. The training has been life changing. I am so happy that we did this, not only because it makes our lives easier, but I also know it makes Hudson’s life better too now that he knows boundaries and limits and doesn’t have to feel as anxious as before.

We could not be happier with our dog training experience with Capital Canine! We have a 1-year old golden retriever who was easily distracted and less inclined to obey commands when she was outside of our home. We opted for the 1-week board and train and have been absolutely thrilled with the entire experience. At the follow-up lesson, Kevin made sure we understood how the e-collar worked before he concluded the session and continued to follow up and address any concerns we had while getting adjusted to the e-collar training. Our dog's progress has been amazing in such a short time. She no longer pulls us towards other dogs when we're on walks (but instead waits for us to tell her she can say hi) and consistently comes when called, even off leash at the dog park. It has given us great peace of mind knowing that we can let her play off leash and she will remain attentive to us. What do you love most about your job?
What we love most about our job first and foremost is the ability to work with and help dogs. We pride ourselves on having the ability to teach owners how to properly communicate with their dogs in order to have the best relationships they could possibly have.
Seeing owners experience their dogs listening on and off leash for the first time, around distractions and out in the real world; it doesn’t get much better than that!
Not to mention the freedom it allows their dogs to have so they can blossom into the pup they were meant to be!
What inspired you to start your own business?
With ten plus years under our belts working with dogs, the next step for us was to open up our own business.
Capital Canine started with the intent to specialize in individualized training programs that weren’t cookie cutter. Our training is tailor made to best suits each and every dogs needs. It was important to us to reach those owners that felt like there was no hope, or felt they had the worlds worst dog and transform their lives. That's what makes this business worth it!
