The selection of food was seriously something that over exceeded my expectations. I was able to try different types of pasta and their pizza and all were sooo delicious! ! My favorite was the garlic knot pizza so cheesy and good. Their pasta bolognese topped with the ricotta was hands down the best pasta I have This night!! I could probably just come here for the salad dressing alone. Â It's homemade, (not from a bottle), and you can purchase it for $6. 99 a pint. Â Get on this! Â :) The back restaurant section is really nice and currently under construction so right now all you will see is white walls, but the place is always beautifully decorated so I can't wait to see what's in store for this place. The lunch specials on Monday and Tuesday are really great. They also have a chicken night on Thursday evenings. I normally order a classic chicken Parm with a side of angel hair pasta. Came here on a weekday night and we were seated immediately. The space is well decorated and comfy, great for large parties. The service was wonderful from beginning to end, we had the most attentive and friendly waiter. As for the food, everything was delicious. We had the buffalo fried calamari (was great), pork chops wrapped with prosciutto and mozzarella (could be larger to coincide with the price), and a pizzette that was fresh and loaded with cheese (no complaints there). I have actually been refraining from reviewing this place because I know I'm biased. So know that up front. It's close to my house & the owners are awesome. Sal the owner is a wonderfully sweet guy. He gave my son his very first job. Henceforth my bias. He has a great family & wonderful staff. My favorite dish used to be Chicken Scarpiello when he used to make it with chicken on the bone. They no longer do this so I no longer order it. Chicken breast is used instead. Phooey! The bones add flavor people! My other go to is the tortellini in vodka sauce with sausage crumbles. Cafe Gio's is conveniently located off of Sunrise Hwy or locally off of Hubbards Path. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and makes you feel like you're in a steakhouse rather than a pizzeria. Although I have yet to try their pasta, the pizza never disappoints. I've stopped in more than I'd like to admit during my lunch hour. It gets pretty busy, so if you have a limited time I would suggest ordering ahead. I have loved Cafe Gio for years now. A hidden gem in a shopping center on the service road, I was super surprised at how fantastic it was the first time I went. Excellent Fried Calamari. I just moved to the area only a few months ago but for awhile have been wanting to try Café Gio,Oh well! glad I finally tried last night. Decided to take mom out to dinner and everything turned out as expected,the Service was great .Mom s spinach pizza was quite tasty and my Chicken Pizza was really good.They also give you a lot of garlic knots which are also succulent.The only drawback at Café Gio is the wait but it is what it is.Will be taking my Cousin there next week for a Birthday lunch I cant wait to get her take on it. This is my second review for the place.... I love their dinners and salads but their pizza is mediocre... I suspect this is because they put more TLC into their non pizza items. I used to have more love for their pizza but I have lost some of it. They really need to switch it up, it seems like a lot of their specialty slices are chicken related and believe it or not, not everyone likes chicken, some people like pulled pork or alla vodka or a basked ziti slice, c'mon Cafe Gio... do something different, you got it in you! I will say that when the white slice is available, get it, and their deep friend calzones are like heaven, yea it's deep fried, but it's a freakin calzone! It's so fattening to begin with, if you wanna stay fit and trim stick with their regular salad, it's amazing but alas.... it aint no deep friend calzone.... mmm mmm good. I do like their staff, we did have a huge issue with a gift card we had... long story short we were charged double and the guy couldn't fix it at the time so our gift card was almost used up because of this mistake but when we went again the next day someone else fixed it but seemed annoyed... it's almost like they expected us to just say " Whatever no biggie", it was a 9 dollar order that was charged for 18 on a 25 dollar gift card, so yea it was a big deal. The thing is... pizza places get busy and I notice a lot of the workers (in pizza places in general) are on edge a lot... it's a very hot kitchen and a lot of orders, I can see why they occasionally get a little annoyed or flustered... so that's why I am writing about the experience but not allowing it to affect this review. Once again I rarely give out 5 stars, but Cafe Gio has earned it! The best place in the Babylon area for Italian food and blows away Pizzaiola! You will not find a better Sicilian slice anywhere and the amount of sauce on it is great! If you plan on dining in, be in for a pleasant surprise. The food is ALWAYS fresh here and it has never let me down! The decor is really nice and the service is really good. I have been coming here ever since Pizzaiola has gone downhill.
