Blu Aubergine is a small, and therefore agile, culinary company founded in Rome, Italy in 2002 by Chef Dana Klitzberg. We specialize in private chef work, catering, private cooking classes, culinary consulting, and food and travel writing. We develop bespoke menus and enjoy creating memorable occasions for families, friends, and work colleagues all over the NY metro area, the Princeton NJ suburbs, in South Florida, and overseas in Italy and beyond.

I was lucky enough to find Blu Aubergine on Bark! Chef Dana did ann amazing job helping to plan the perfect menu for my party. Dana and her staff were exceptional! From the moment they walked in the door they made everything magical! The food was beautiful and delicious and the service was so sweet, kind and professional! They completely took over my kitchen like it was theirs. Making it possible for me to do nothing except enjoy my own party! I would 100 percent recommend their service! 5 Stars are just not enough to express how highly I recommend Chef Dana at Blu Aubergine. Our chef retired after many years and I needed someone to cook a five-course sit-down dinner for 25 on Christmas Day. Dana was the perfect choice. She presented a wide variety of menu options but also provided excellent guidance on choices. Her pass-around hors d’oeuvres were fabulous. Every course of the meal was cooked/prepared to perfection and my guests raved about the food. Importantly, Dana is very professional, was extremely organized in the kitchen and worked seamlessly with waitstaff. The presentation of each course was as beautiful as the food was delicious. blu aubergine catered our son's wedding in NYC. Everything was outstanding-- from the first call with Dana, she was warm, engaged and excited to work with us. The menu she developed was Mediterranean-influenced. Everything was delish, presentation was beautiful on colorful platters. Her staff was outstanding-- attentive to the bride and groom and parents. What’s your signature dish?
I love working with fresh seafood, authentic homemade pastas, anything containing eggplant, and anything chocolate!
What do you love most about your job?
Making people deliriously happy, and bringing family and friends together at the table.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I come from a family of entrepreneurs. Also, living as a foreigner in Europe is hard to maneuver, working for other people!
Why should our clients choose you?
Not only do I have several decades of experience, but I was previously on the client side as a publicist and event planner, so I "get it". Also, I'm a people person and pretty much get along with everyone. And most importantly, if I may brag for a minute: my delicious food speaks for itself!
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
Besides being triple vaxxed and following all protocols, I've personally been very careful, with a young child at home and older parents.
