Michael is a professor of music at the University of Colorado Denver, a professional guitarist and bagpiper, AND a DJ! The man does it all. We had him play guitar for our ceremony and then he flawlessly transitioned into our DJ for the remainder of the night. It was beautiful and easy. He was SO much fun to work with, and he absolutely cooked- he played exactly what we envisioned. Started off with some of our favorite bands like Cage the Elephant and Portugal the Man during dinner and managed to keep it light and social, moved on to some popular hits by Chappell Roan and T Swift early in the night to get people dancing (and my wife’s favorite artists), and then transitioned into playing absolute DnB bangers that still got many of our non-raver friends dancing! We're so glad we went with Michael! He was very communicative leading to the wedding and always had a positive attitude that got us so excited. He played live music at our ceremony/cocktail hour and he's so talented! Then at the reception he kept the energy going all night long! He played a bunch of songs we requested which was appreciated as well as threw in all the right stuff to keep the energy up. There were a few times during the night we had the entire wedding dancing which was so fun and a testament to his work. He helped us think through things that we hadn't even considered and really made the schedule as smooth as could be. He was able to accomodate for our ceremony that did not have a power source. We even had our generator go out during the reception and he didn't hesitate to keep the vibe going. He started up his battery powered speakers and many guests didn't even realize the power was out. Michael was really responsive over email and was able to get guests at our wedding up and dancing for most of the night, which was great! A few notes about why we gave his professionalism a 3-star rating. We requested his live guitar service for dinner time, but the volume was so loud you couldn't hear the person next to you talking and he didn't seem to want to turn it down. He finally did but only after 2 people, 1 being the Mother of the Bride, asked him to. The other reason for our rating was that a few weeks before the wedding, Michael emailed to suggest changing the order of the Parent Dance and Couple First Dance since we discussed having guests join in after the first minute of the First Dance. We agreed to do so, but that night, his notes still had the original order and he began to play the Couple First Dance song. No big deal! Except when my husband and I, with our Month of Coordinator, went up to clarify after the first 20 seconds of the song playing, he seemed irritated and reluctant to switch the order and kept pointing back at what his notes had. Other than those hiccups, Michael was good at reading the room and was sure to play a "break" song to clear the dance floor and give people a chance to recover from all the dancing. More...
